Life & Work with Joshua Clark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Clark.

Hi Joshua, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My film career started after a bad divorce and a mental health breakdown in 2018. I had to be talked out of an attempted suicide and get mental therapeutic help for the first time in my life. After that, I formulated a plan to make a short documentary about the generational trauma in my family and how we use motorcycle riding as a coping mechanism. During the process of making that film, I met my creative partner, Mike Kash. That chance meeting sparked a different level of commitment to this craft and soon after I left my 9 to 5 to start my production company, GYMFEA productions. Unfortunately, Covid happened and put a halt to filming but it provided me the opportunity to formulate a much bigger plan and the strategy behind making that plan a reality. Since then, we have produced 2 feature-length documentaries that we are currently in post-production with. A short doc that is in post-production. We have 2 TV series in pre-production and a few other projects in development.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Covid was a generational shifting alteration to us all. I for one think it might by the lynchpin of salvation for the human species in that we collectively had time to have an existential introspective conversation with ourselves. I believe that dichotomy has induced a new level of consciousness within enough of us to alter the principle motivations of existence in our spheres. Many of us no longer feel the need to serve masters whom will never serve our best needs in return. Many of us allowed that time of the slowing of time to hear the quiet voice deep inside ourselves that can allow us find alignment with source energy to live a life in accordance with what is our true purpose in this universe. And on the other question, the single hardest aspect of making films is the grinding process of obtaining the financial backing to do so. As in so many other ways in which America falls behind own contemporary nations, this is the case with filmmaking as well. Most countries throughout Europe especially foster filmmakers in a way that truly allows them to develop their art and enhance the culture of the society in which we live in. America in most regards is a selfish and petulant country that seeks self-indulgence in whatever may bring a product to the common sphere which perpetuates consumerism at whatever other cost may be derived from that action. The struggle to make art meant to elevate the collective consciousness has many hurdles but for me and my existence I must proceed through that gauntlet to give myself to what the universe has asked of me in my small way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We work on projects that focus on 2 things. The path of healing, primarily in a mental health capacity in some regard or the showcasing of passion of individuals or groups as to inspire others to seek that in themselves. I took some time to heal in my own life and then I found my alignment in regards to what the universe would ask of me. I believe that if we can provide projects to the world that showcase these 2 very instrumental values, we can alter the path of existence for many others. Being that film / TV is the most common medium of communication utilized in this modern world, that is the path I have chosen. I do not like to advance my egos needs with pride as whatever I may be and whatever talent I may have is simply given to me from source energy to do what the universe calls of me to provide alignment in all regards. I will say that when I hear how a project resonates within another humans and gives them the motivation to pursue that deep seeded call to action within them, I have a deep and profound sense of joy.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
The breathe of life is not for the simple musings of finding solace within the simplicities of complacency. You are a divine creature with the inherent ability to alter everlasting in your sphere when you make the conscious decision to do so. I promise you if you purposefully quiet your life for a period of six months you will hear a small voice that eventually will become a resounding thunderous proclamation of your purpose. Within the sense of purpose, you may find the deepest connection to everything else in this universe. We are in a juncture on this small planet in this vast and magnificent universe in which we must decide to either embrace the oneness of it all or destroy what we all share to perpetuate a system that dictates a level of autonomy that provides no humanistic gain save for a few. I for one will do my part, in my small way, to provide hope and light in this space in time to as many as I can.
