Life & Work with Jayden Caraballo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayden Caraballo.

Hi Jayden, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started in my living room, in Cleveland, Ohio, with a plastic bat and a plastic ball. Then I started joining baseball leagues when I was three years old. I wanted to keep playing baseball because it was fun. I would play shortstop. When I got on the field, I would forget about everything and only think about baseball. As I got older, the games got more competitive, and I started joining travel league teams. That’s when I realized that I wanted to play baseball more often and take it seriously. I also started pitching and playing other positions. Then in 2021, we moved to Florida and found a baseball league here. Played a lot more baseball games and pitched more too. My team ended up in the championship. We ended up getting second place in the championship.

After the championship, I got invited to play with 12U All-Stars in the summer of 2022. Playing with the All-Stars, I learned to be more confident in myself. We made it to the State Championship and did not advance to next round. As soon as the All-Stars finished, I tried out for The Gulf Coast Crush 13U. After playing with them for a while, I decided to move up to 14U, where it was more competitive. Now I’m still playing with 14u, and I’m preparing for an All-American tournament this summer.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s kind of been a smooth road. I would practice a lot. Sometimes I had to play or practice in the cold weather. Play for different coaches and different teams. One time, when I was 9, I had to play against 12-year-olds because the league didn’t have enough players for my age group. It was very challenging, but I played through it. In 2020, I didn’t play because of the Covid-19 pandemic. That summer was super boring.

Once my family moved to Florida, things got better. Being able to practice all year long, it made me get better. Since then, I’m happier.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I play travel baseball. I play pitcher, shortstop, and outfield positions. Also, I am a switch hitter. I can bat right and left-handed, which I’m very proud of that I’m able to do, because it’s not common. My main position is pitcher. I bring a lot of energy to my team.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I learned that I need to be more confident in myself and the people around me.
