Today we’d like to introduce you to Israel Douglas.

Hi Israel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I ( Israel Douglas) have been a photographer since 2018. Primarily shooting portraits and creative photography. I got into photography through college at the University of Toledo One of my media classes required us to live stream our athletic events and while I liked filming the games, I just felt if I could take pictures instead, what I could capture in one frame could be so much more powerful. This led to me enjoying capturing people!

I have been taking photos of my sister’s family ( Alyssa Martinez- Baker ) for the last couple of years. She had the idea to “combine forces” and make my photography an actual business. Her amazing organization skills, attention to detail, understanding of how meaningful photos are, as well as having an interest in photography herself made this collaboration a no-brainer!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I (Israel Douglas) struggled with booking consistently, networking, and being financially unable to support my photography to turn it into a business. Struggling with depression during my junior/senior year of college, I was never confident in my work, making it hard for me to promote myself to a possible client.

I never knew my target audience either. I didn’t know what direction in photography I wanted to take. Once Alyssa joined, being a nurse meant she had a target audience with her. Most nurses are mothers who, much like Alyssa, want memorable photos of their families & more. This helped us with how we would pitch Israel Nichole Photography to new clients as family & wedding photographers.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Israel Nichole Photography LLC is a photography business run by myself and my sister me. We specialize in family portraits and wedding photography but are mostly known for our family portraits. We also do maternity, events photography, newborn, and so much more. We value quality and connection over everything.

We don’t want to just capture a photo. We want to capture a feeling so that when our clients look at these photos years down the line, they can flashback on a good memory. We also love showing appreciation to our clients by gifting them things for the holiday and bringing presents if we know children will be at our shoots.

Networking and finding a mentor can positively impact one’s life and career. Any advice?
We know a lot of people who specialize in marketing, coding, photographers, etc., so we just had to reach out and get connected! Sometimes reaching outside of people you may know can be intimidating but we would say to start with the people you do know. They may be in fields you would like to know more about.
