Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Manning.
Hi Erin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been in the tattoo industry for about 9 years now. Previously, I worked as a graphic designer for the local newspaper and a small web design company. I took some time off when my daughter was born, and in that season, I got the itch to try something different. I had always loved drawing, and tattoos felt like a meaningful way to use my artistry.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Tattooing is a difficult skill to learn, on top of how to build and maintain a clientele. The first few years, it was challenging to gain all the technical skills and experience with different skin types
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in a few different styles, mainly geometric, ornamental, and black-and-gray realism. I have always enjoyed realistic pencil drawing, while ornamental and geometric pieces draw a lot on my design background. I like to create intricate designs that fit nicely on the body and are visible across the room.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I think some of my favorite memories overall are spending summers at my grandma’s house with my cousins.
