Life & Work with Emily Luthy of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Luthy.

Hi Emily, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Back in 2022 I got into the trucking industry as a fleet manager annd dispatcher. I also created a small business making custom accessories for semi trucks and truck drivers. My social media blew up from that, and I ended up meeting my now husband through TikTok! In December of 2024 I closed my small business, and my husband and I sold everything we owned to live on the road full time in his semi truck. Fast forward to now, trucking has led us into an amazing life of full time travel. Although work comes first and we obviously have to prioritize our deliveries, we have been so blessed to travel in between. With all of our travel experience together for work and personal opportunities, I decided to become a remote travel agent. I get to use my daily experience of living a life on the road to plan trips for others. Since December of 2024, together we have been to 46 states (my husband has been to 49 through his trucking career), 5 Canadian provinces, Washington DC, and the Caribbean. We have three cruises planned this year as well coming up. As a travel agent I have decided to specialize in cross country road trip itineraries, national park trips, cruises, Caribbean vacations and Canadian trips. I absolutely love sharing our trips and experiences with the world and I am so excited for what the future has for us.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When people ask about our lifestyle, everyone is so fascinated with the places we see and the only think about the fact that a young married couple travels full time together. And yes, while that is amazing and we are so thankful for things we get to experience together, our life is much different from someone who just takes multiple vacations or lives in an RV/van. The trucking lifestyle is far from glamorous. We don’t always fit in certain places, or we aren’t allowed to park in specific areas. Work of course comes first too. So although we do try to make the most of our weekend resets, sometimes we are stuck sitting in a parking lot all weekend. Not to mention truck stop showers, and laundromats can be a hassle to deal with. We are fortunate enough to have a “big bunk” Kenworth though that is fully equipped with a kitchen and bathroom on board! We are able to make homecooked meals all day everyday and avoid the nasty fast food at truck stops. We still shower at truck stops though as we turned the bathroom into a full closet. We needed that extra space for all of our travel things! It can definitely be a love/hate relationship with being on the road full time. Not a lot of people understand it, it has its ups and downs too. But it works for us and we make the most of it for sure! I always love sharing our life and educating others about the trucking lifestyle and industry.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a remote travel agent, my most favorite part is sharing my travel experiences with others and making sure their trip is perfectly planned. I specialize in planning cross country road trips, Canadian trips, cruises, Caribbean vacations and national park trips. What sets me apart from other advisors is that I travel full time. Daily we are planning our trips for our loads that we haul, so through that I am familiar with routing all over the US and Canada. I understand the importance of vehicular travel planning logistics. While out on the road, we love finding local places to eat at and hidden gems wherever we land. So for travelers who want unique experiences and trips with minimal tourism, I have expertise in those areas and trip planning. I’m honestly most proud of my husband. His work ethic and level of motivation to provide this lifestyle for us impresses me everyday. Not only does he ensure I am taken care of in every way, but he also prioritizes that we get to enjoy life and many different experiences together. He understands the importance of learning new things and creating new experiences. Travel can be a form of education or relaxation, and we always make sure to take time out of the truck to mentally reset, or learn and experience something new.

How do you define success?
Success does not happen over night. It is full of failure and learning experiences. I have gained clients, and I’ve lost clients as a travel agent. I’m still a new agent and I am constantly learning something new everyday. Every new booking is something to celebrate in my opinion. And the true success comes from each client individually after I hear about how wonderful their trip was. That is the most important thing to me- making someone’s trip memorable. So for me, each trip my clients take is success.
