Life & Work with Catherine Farber of Woodville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Farber.

Hi Catherine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been rearranging furniture in my room since I was a kid. In college, I worked in the theater building and decorating sets. As an adult, I have decorated my own homes as my family has moved. I studied interior design online and received my certificate from the Interior Design Institute in 2024. I set up my own business, Farber Home Design, first as an e-designer, then as a full-service in-person interior designer.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest challenge is running this business independently. I am not just a designer, but also a marketer, bookkeeper, website developer, and more. Another challenge I faced was moving from Maryland to Ohio just as I was getting started. This was why I began in e-design before offering full-service.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Farber Home Design is a residential interior design business. I primarily work with families who want to make their home beautiful and functional. They require more storage space and durable furnishings. I am transparent with my pricing and processes to make the clients feel at ease.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love spending time with my family. Owning my own business allows me to schedule my own hours so I can be there for my kids and husband.
