Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Brown.
Hi Brenda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Helping grieving people is my passion. That sounds weird to many people. However, years ago, when death loss grief
entered my own life, I struggled to find others who could help or understand. I felt so isolated.
So I started working in the field of grief (hospice and, later, as director of grief services). I discovered an endless wealth of information and resources.
When I became semi-retired from my work in the field of human loss and grief, I realized my passion hadn’t ended for helping people with grief. Plus. It occurred to me that pet loss is as painful for some people as human loss. Hince, in 2015, Grief About Pets began. I’ve been blessed to hear comments from grieving people that our services saved their life. We gave them courage to keep going and survive the pain.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
That’s a funny question. I suspect no one starting a business has a smooth road. It took years to market Grief About Pets. Now it’s grown so much that it is challenging to keep up.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Most of this is on my profile on my website.www.griefaboutpets.com
Any big plans?
The future is a bit undecided. I am semi-retired and in the process of growing Grief About Pets with the help of two grief specialists, Chanda Joy and Jodie Stephen. Plus, an incredible healed pet parent, Sherry Slocum, who helps with our pet loss groups and offers her wisdom and hope.
