Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Markley

Hi Alyssa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2017, we purchased what would quickly become our biggest project as a couple. It was just Trevor (my now husband) and I and we took on a home that was in foreclosure. The 9th street house was our first home renovation – intended to be a sanctuary for our own family to grow. It quickly became our passion and I used this home to start sharing my vision with the world. We look back at the 9th street house and think of it as the birthplace of this business and the passion that led us to creating beautiful homes for other families, too. I officially started the Markley Co. LLC in 2021, after being stuck at home during Covid. I had time to really think about what I wanted and what I wanted my life to look like – I knew that I was not fulfilling my creative passion. It started out taking on any and every job that I could for little to no pay, just trying to build a portfolio and has blossomed into something really special. We are now not only all over the state of Ohio but we have jobs nationwide as well. I also am in the process of writing and publishing my very first coffee table book.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, and still, some days are very difficult as a small business owner. I am a mother of three, now soon to be four, and when I was starting the business my roles changed dramatically and honestly caused some growing pains. I stuck with it though because I knew I would regret giving up on my dream of being an entrepreneur if I quit. Aside from this, I have struggled tremendously with imposter syndrome attacks as I’ve moved through this journey. It’s been a beautiful ride, nonetheless.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I consider myself an artist, however, we do Interior Design/Decorating. Our boutique design studio has been focused on the intricate dynamics of family life. Our design approach is personalized and collaborative, allowing us to cater to the unique needs of each family we work with. Design at Markley Co. Interiors isn’t just a job – it’s a passion. We design homes to become part of your family’s story, to grow with you and to create spaces where memories are born.
