Inspiring Conversations with Shanon Phillips of Power Seeds

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanon Phillips.

Hi Shanon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins in East Cleveland, OH. Some of my best memories are there. I graduated from Shaw High School and went on to Miami University to study business. After graduation, I entered the workforce and for the past 10 years held several roles within customer service and Human Resources.

My main motivation is to leave a legacy for my future children. I know that everything that I am stems from God, my family, close friends, and even people that were in my life for a season. They all give me the experiences I need to learn, grow, develop and thrive.

The pandemic has brought a lot of time to reflect. One of the best things was it slowed me down right before I burned out. There is a difference in being busy and being productive. I got time to think was I truly living life with intention? What impact was I creating and leaving for others? This thinking led me the idea of a podcast.

During December 2020, I took a self-retreat. For 48 hours, I locked myself in an airbnb and created the plan for Power Seeds Podcast.

I decided to start this podcast out of obedience to my purpose. God placed the idea on my heart for a few years, but fear and the overplayed excuse of being “too busy” suppressed that fire. Self-care is so crucial and a part of my life journey – so why not share experiences, whether mine or others, on a larger platform?

I created Truthful Tuesday videos on Instagram for about 3 years and gained a small followership, but that pull to do something greater stayed on my heart and mind. I knew I was good at writing, giving advice, and connecting dots. The yearning and the confirmations became so strong that I finally surrendered.

The podcast launched in March 2021 and is in Season 2. There are now over  1,800 downloads with over 30 episodes.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, the road has not been smooth. Some struggles included credit card debt that spiraled out of control and losing close family members each year to tragedies and illnesses. I also realized that I lacked a lot of confidence in myself and shied away from what I found I am naturally good at which is sharing wisdom and being a motivator and encourager for personal and professional growth.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Power Seeds, LLC?
Under Power Seeds, LLC is Power Seeds podcast where the focus is on self-care. This expands the mind to learn that self-care is a lifestyle, a journey and it changes as you change.

Power Seeds Podcast is a channel to build community around the topic of self-care. Episodes are released every other Tuesday. We explore the six dimensions of wellness in a creative, fun, and insightful way. The space is meant to be inviting to all – whether you are just starting this journey or is a vet looking to share wisdom.

My fulfillment comes from engaging in deep conversations with women (and men) about their lived experiences. I love to speak life in hopes of sparking something inside of them that will blossom into a greater impact. My mission is to spread my message, “You are enough. Always have been and always will be!” With that comes the responsibility to be a self-care advocate and share the challenges and success of working on this daily. I care and want to connect to others on a deep level. I am inquisitive and ask questions because I genuinely want to know. I seek to serve, and that is my leadership style.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes – learning to rest in silence. There is power and revelation in sitting in silence. This is an ongoing challenge for me.

I learned to give myself grace. I am too hard on myself.

I learned to laugh and be present with others. Each day is not promised.

I learned to be a little more patient and to respect time.
