Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Rose Pequignot. 

Hi Leslie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey to becoming a clinical aesthetician & PMU artist was in my blood from a young age! I consider myself to be an empath, I have always had a strong passion for helping others and advocating for self-care. Becoming an aesthetician has given me an outlet for all the love I have for helping people and being able to do something I am passionate about and enjoy doing as well. I focus my work on helping clients with disorders such as alopecia & trichotillomania or clients recovering from hair loss from chemotherapy. For these clients it is such an extraordinary step for them to take and it can move mountains for them! This makes my job so gratifying and makes me excited to go to work every day. I’ve had many clients cry after showing them their new eyebrows… and I cry with them because it fills my heart to see them so happy. I have clients that come from out of state, NY, WV, FLA just to name a few- because when someone is tattooing your face, you can’t trust just anyone! 

I began my aesthetic journey in 2011 by moving to Columbus and becoming an aesthetician. After getting my esthetic degree, I landed a job working for one of the top medical spas in America. Within a year I was promoted to lead aesthetician, overseeing 13 locations nationwide! I was lucky enough to be able to travel and train other amazing Aestheticians in NY, FLA, and OH; this showed me that I have a passion for educating and training others. Being able to work alongside so many talented nurses, PAs and doctors gave me the confidence in my education to build my own business. 

In February of 2019, I opened Symmetry. I am so grateful that I have grown like crazy since! I made it through a pandemic, something any business should be proud of. Funny enough, the pandemic helped grow my business. When things opened up after quarantine, everyone had to wear a mask. All you see on people when wearing a mask is their eyebrows! So, the Columbus brow queen gladly took on all the new clientele! 

A lot of hard work and dedication to my craft and care for my clients helped me build my business. I am all about integrity and transparency and quality over quantity. I have 40+ certifications in my field. I continue to build and bring on the newest products and services as they come. 

I am thrilled to announce that my business is growing in a BIG way- I just signed a lease for a large storefront space in German Village! I will be focusing more on training future artists and entrepreneurs. I can’t wait to share my decade of knowledge with everyone and help them be successful. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a smoother road than expected for me in some ways. Having the ability to create my own schedule, going at my own pace & being able to take time off when I needed has been such a blessing for me. I think having a work-life balance is so important, especially when you are an artist and your quality of work depends on your mental health. I do not overwork myself so that I am always giving my best self and work to my clients. 

However, that doesn’t mean it came without its hardships. The biggest struggles I have conquered in my business were making it through a pandemic after only being open for a year. Then making it through the George Floyd protest that went through The Short North where many business is located (my business in was boarderded up with plywood for nearly 3 months on and off) this was immediately after salons and spas were able to open back up after the country wide mandated shut down and quarantine. I was scared, I took out loans and I honestly thought that after this, I wasn’t going to have a business. 

We’ve been impressed with Symmetry By Leslie Rose, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am proud to be a brand that stands for passion and integrity. My clients call me the Brow Queen Of Columbus lol :p 

I am a board-certified Esthetician and licensed tattoo artist. I offer 15+ services at my business, Symmetry. You can check them out on my site: motherofbrows.com. I am also a certified trainer and educator. I offer training courses in microblading, dermaplaning, and a handful of other esthetic services. I am known creating custom-designed eyebrows that look incredibly realistic and match the uniqueness of my client’s face. 

I specialize in microblading which is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo that mimics the look of real hair. It is done by using a small fine blade (usually shaped in a slight angle or curve). The pigment is deposited into the top layer of the skin, your epidermis. This is what allows the tattoo to be semi-permanent; this layer of your skin is always shedding, all day every day. This will eventually fade the microblading pigment away completely after about 3 years, depending on the client’s skin type and lifestyle. 

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Outside of work I am a passionate singer. and musician. I was a music major at Wright State University in 2010 before moving to Columbus and changing my career path. I come from a family of musically talented humans. My mother sings beautifully and my maternal side of the family- grandparents, aunts, and uncles- mostly all sing (you should hear us when there is a family reunion!!!). My father is an amazing professional jazz pianist. I used to do gigs with him often when he still lived in Ohio 🙂
