Today we’d like to introduce you to Jianchao Zhang.
Hi Jianchao, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in 1964 in the birthplace of <<“Huangdi Neijing”>> and <<“I Ching”>> in Shanxi province, Baoji district, Qishan County. Since childhood, I was greatly influenced by my Grandfather who practiced acupuncture and Chinese Medicine for more than 50 years. In 1988, I graduated from the Department of Biology at Wuhan University, majoring in Genetics. From 1988 to 1991, I studied at the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences where I obtained a Master’s degree in Biophysics. Since 1992, I have continued to work and study in the United States and obtained a Ph.D. in Immunology from The Ohio State University. Since obtaining my PhD., I have been working as a translational researcher in the Biomedical field. I have published many papers including three outstanding articles in the prestigious international journal <<“Nature Medicine”>>. While continuing my medical research, I have also trained in Chinese Medicine with a focus on acupuncture. In 2014, I obtained a Master’s degree in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in the US and became the board certified for acupuncture by the American Traditional Chinese Medicine Association (NCCAOM). I also obtained an acupuncture license from the State Medical Board of Ohio.
In the course of clinical practice, Dr. Zhang has continued to learn and adapt a variety of acupuncture techniques through various international channels. He utilizes plant seeds and common Chinese herb medicines applied to the 14 meridian acupuncture points on the hands to treat a variety of maladies. He has segregated these applications into two categories according to their medicinal properties and color: gold patch and silver patch. By applying gold and silver patches on acupuncture points on the hands, as well as elsewhere on the body, one can readily tonify and/or sedate the meridians. Combining these gold and silver patches with traditional body acupuncture points, one can adjust the unbalanced body meridian quickly to achieve the Yin and Yang balance. Dr. Zhang focusses on targeting both the symptom and the root cause in order to cure and/or maintain his patient’s wellness. The relief for the patient is often immediate, effective, and long-lasting. My signature technique makes my clinic distinctive from other traditional acupuncture clinics.
My patient often refer to this treatment as magic, and jokingly call me a magician, amazed by how quickly they begin to feel relief.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey to becoming an acupuncturist has not been without its challenges, to find something new and more natural for difficult and complicated illnesses was even more challenging, each one shaping my growth and deepening my commitment to patient care. There were times when I questioned whether patients would believe in the power of acupuncture. Yet, each success story – affirmed my purpose and the incredible healing potential of this ancient and cutting-edge new art.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Accurate Acupuncture by Zhang, we specialize in restoring balance, relieving pain, and promoting the body’s natural ability to heal through the art and science of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Our clinic combines unique techniques with deep understanding of modern physiology to deliver precise, results-driven treatments.
What sets the clinic apart is our individualized approach – each session is carefully tailored to the patient’s unique condition, lifestyle, and goals. Many of our patients describe the experience as “magic,” often expressing gratitude for the relief and renewed energy they find immediately after treatment.
I am most proud of the trust our patients place in us. They return week after week because they feel heard, supported, and confident in their path toward lasting healing. Whether they come to manage chronic pain, stress, hormonal balance, or simply to restore harmony in their daily lives, they know they are receiving compassionate, attentive care that honors both ancient wisdom and modern well-being.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that every patient’s path to healing is unique, and my role is to find the root of the illness. The patient can be healed quickly by working on the root of the illness.
