Inspiring Conversations with Jalyn Hill of Therealjdoll

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalyn Hill

Hi Jalyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Honestly, I got started with content creation back in middle school. Growing up, I either played outside or in the house with my toys. My parents were on the stricter side, so I was kind of limited in who I could play with and what I could do. Now that I’m older, I can appreciate how I was raised, but back then, I felt restricted. I didn’t have a phone with a camera—honestly, I barely had a phone at all—so my parents ended up buying me this really old-school recorder. That took my doll play to the next level. I started recording myself playing with them, and I loved watching other people do the same on YouTube.

At that time, I couldn’t have my own YouTube account, so you can probably still find my old videos on my dad’s YouTube. But from there, my passion for content creation and editing really grew. I created my first independent channel in college, posting lifestyle content and clothing hauls. My platform started gaining traction, and people were really appreciating what I was putting out, which only fueled my passion even more.

Towards the end of my college years, I grew to love travel and experiences, so I started documenting that on my platforms. But I wanted to do more than just share my trips—I also have a deep appreciation for my hometown, Cincinnati, Ohio. I wanted to put people on to different restaurants and experiences they could have right here at home.

It’s funny because I went to Alabama A&M and graduated in 2021. Not a lot of people from the Midwest (excluding Chicago) went there, so I always got the question, “What is there to do in Cincinnati?” A lot of those same people still follow me today, and they’re always shocked by what the city has to offer. So, I get to show people from out of town what’s here, and I also get to show locals what’s in their own backyard.

God, my family, boyfriend, friends far and wide, ASWAYS show up for me in ways that have made this journey even the more precious. I appreciate them all SO much and hope they know they keep me going.

Trust me, I love to travel and get away, but I also appreciate all the things to do right at home.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has definitely been far from smooth. I think many content creators aspire to have a big following, but there are very few people that “make it” are honestly 100% authentic to themselves and are able to grow their community to large numbers. You have to keep up with trends, try to stay relevant and consistent, and so many other things. So in a world where I try my best to stay true to myself, it took time for me to realize that I have to focus and cater to those who appreciate my content for what it is and ignore the numbers. Lol it’s funny when there’s a video you put your heart/soul/and hours of editing into, feel like this is going to be a BANGER and it only get’s 100 views. That’s why I feel like it’s a reality check on why are you doing this? Is it because you have a passion of creation and sharing or is it just to blow up, be popular, and whatever else you feel comes with larger platforms.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Therealjdoll?
I have a YouTube channel, and I also post content and reels on Instagram and TikTok. On YouTube, I specialize in travel and lifestyle vlogs. Instagram and TikTok are more of a snippet into my life, where I put you on to activities you can do here in Cincinnati or around the world.

What sets me apart from others is that I love to have a good time, and I’m always optimistic about the experiences you can have. I don’t need the most luxurious trips to enjoy myself—you can have a good time on a dime. When you watch my channel, you truly get to experience good times with my loved ones, see what different destinations are like/what gems they hold, and really feel like you’re hanging out with your internet bestie.

I’m most proud of the growth I’ve seen in my YouTube channel. My videos now have better editing, more value for the viewer, and truly reflect my day-to-day passions. If you’ve been watching me from the beginning, you’ve honestly grown up with me, which is a beautiful thing.

If you’re looking for lifestyle hacks, things to do around the world, affordable ways to travel, or just experiences that are worth your time—all with a positive vibe—I highly encourage you to check out my platforms!

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Yes, one huge wrist that I take is not having a niche platform. Which means one day you might get cooking videos one day you make it travel information one day you might get insight to my life as a teenager adult, you could get a make up tutorial; you can get a lot out of me. And the risk with that is people that came to your channel for one thing specifically will lose interest in your channel when it gets lost in a lot of other elements of your life. But it’s just a reminder that I’m here to be my real self because I have made up of many things and God will bless me with the right people.
