Inspiring Conversations with Dr. Rick Rzepka of Rzepka Dental in Beachwood, OH

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Rzepka.

Hi Rick, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Cleveland, OH – It’s no big secret among recreational aviators: The two things any pilot loves to do most are flying and eating. But how do you connect those two passions when not every restaurant has a runway and not every runway has a restaurant?
Now there’s a way. Whether your next excursion is a short hop across the state or a cross-country odyssey, the Fly-n-Eat app can tell you where to lower the flaps when it’s time to refill the gastronomical tank!
Fly-n-Eat connects you with up-to-date restaurants either onsite or within a very short distance of county and regional airports all across the continental United States. It’s the only app dedicated to flying and eating, and it’s designed to put a wealth of restaurant information at your fingertips before you even leave the ground.
The Fly-n-Eat app offers a full spectrum of features to connect you with a good meal at any point on your trip – front leg, back leg and everywhere in between:
• Your choice of trip planning options: fly-eat-back to home base for short hops, or point-to-point when traveling longer distances or even cross country
• airport locations (city/state/region), call letters, time zones
• restaurant names, addresses, phone numbers
• hours of operation and descriptions of décor, ambience, and other amenities
• links to restaurant websites and menus
And while it might be hard to believe, sometimes there’s more to flying than just eating. Sometimes there are hoops to jump through to stay current with all the necessary training requirements. For pilots who need to brush up on their training, Fly-n-Eat is continuously building a CFI/CFII database of instructors who are available to connect with when needed.
All of these features are available at a low monthly or annual rate that won’t break your fly-n-eat budget: • $4.99/month
• $49.99/year. There is also a promotional code to receive 50% off a year subscription. Use code: FLYNEATYUM50.
Available on the App Store & Google Play

The Fly-n-Eat app was developed by Rick Rzepka, a Northeast Ohio-based dentist who takes to the sky when he’s not taking care of his patients’ teeth.
“In my 25+ years of flying, I have always loved an adventure that included both flying and eating,” says Rzepka. “For years, I had been unable to find a comprehensive, real-time, up-to-date resource to connect those two favorite pursuits, so I decided to create one. Whether the plan is a quick there and back or a longer journey, Fly-n-Eat is designed to be a helpful travel companion when you’re plotting a course for a satisfying meal along the way.”
He adds: “We’re creating the CFI/CFII database to help pilots connect with instructors while using the app. If a pilot is en route to a destination and realizes that he or she needs a flight review, Fly-n-Eat sets them up for the perfect combination – flight certification and culinary adventure in a single trip!”
Fly-n-Eat puts it all in your hands. Find fun places to stop for a bite while planning your quick trip or cross-country flight and keep your certification up to date along the way. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creating an app is not an easy task. There are many curve balls that must be navigated. Communication is key with developers and keeping on top of restaurants that have closed or new ones takes time. What I thought would be easy with creating Fly-n-Eat has been a challenge. However, very happy with the outcome and so are the private pilots who have downloaded and consistently use the app for food destinations on airports.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dr. Rick Rzepka, Rzepka Dental I am a Dentist and have been 35+ years in private practice, located in Beachwood, OH?
I have been practicing Dentistry for 35+ years in Cleveland. I attended The Ohio State University for undergrad and Case Western Reserve University for Dental School. I also taught at Case Western Reserve for 25+ years. Top Dwntist in Cleveland Magazine 5 years in a. row. Not only am I a Dentist, but a private pilot for 25 years. My passion for flying led me to create Fly-n-Eat , which is available on the App Store and google Play. I have been able to balance both my practice and flying to great restaurants on airports. Fly-n-Eat is the only app available that is up-to-date and in real-time for Pilots looking for restaurants along their route.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Honesty is the best policy. I practice that in life and in my Dental practice.
