Inspiring Conversations with Danielle Rowell of Inebriated Baker®

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Rowell.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The idea for the Inebriated Baker® was first hatched in 2007 and manifested, like all great inventions do, as a form of necessity. After a nice meal, I love an after-dinner cocktail and dessert but I couldn’t justify spending another $20 on top of my bill, so I had an idea: why not combine the two?

Immediately the name and fun logo popped into my head: the Inebriated Baker®. I spent the next decade perfecting the recipes as a way to unwind from my full-time job in higher education. In the back of my mind, I would always daydream about what if this would take off but I never acted on it.

Fast forward to November 2019 – my position was downsized and I had a choice. I could continue a career in higher education or I could finally take a gamble on myself. I decided to take the plunge. I no longer wanted to be plagued with the question of “what if.”

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There were many hiccups along the way notwithstanding the pandemic. For me personally, I had to give myself a crash course in the food industry because I have not worked in the food service/restaurant since my undergraduate years. Once you get over the initial fear of learning a new industry, then you can work on what skills and knowledge are transferable; and as for the rest, you can find reliable experts to help build your team.

As you know, we’re big fans of Inebriated Baker®. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I created the world’s first and only edible cocktail™ – the cocktail you can actually eat — not just adding a little pipette of alcohol to a baked good or a tablespoon for ‘flavor,’ but an honest-to-goodness dessert that has a full shot of booze in it and tastes exactly like a recreation of your favorite cocktail, mixed drink or martini. There are many bakeries adding alcohol to cupcakes out there; but I am still the first and only one to guarantee a full shot after baking in each edible cocktail™, guaranteed topped with our signature moonshine-soaked cherry.

My business caters to both B2C and B2B clients. I also cater events and weddings. I just started shipping nationwide!

What’s next?
I am expanding my product lines; working on another brand called the Inebriated Chef®; and am working on securing contracts to sell in the national big-box stores. I am working on opening more retail locations nationwide. I would also love to develop a comedy cooking show.
