Today we’d like to introduce you to Burning River Sportscast Presented By Tap In Media
Hi Burning River Sportscast, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
To go back to the very beginning – we had dabbled in content creation for some time. We both (Kenny Thunder and Ronnie Jams) have backgrounds as golf professionals. We started out as a small YouTube Channel doing lessons and product reviews. When that channel quickly started to grow we tooled around with various ways to scale what we were doing and simultaneously watched the world of content creation grow exponentially around us. That is when we realized that we wanted to be able to participate in and capitalize on broader niches. We had already made significant investments in technology, software, hardware, etc. and we began looking at other projects that had stronger long term trajectories. Thus we created Tap In Media so we could fully transform our business into our true dream, a multi-media production company. And given we are both from Northeast Ohio and having a strong love for our professional sports teams, particularly the Cleveland Browns, the first labor of love for Tap In Media was born – Burning River Sportscast: A Cleveland Browns Podcast.
From there, we’ve been fortunate to have some really great partners. From the beginning Towpath Distillery signed on and believed in everything this show could be. In season 2 we signed on with SeaSide Events who are the organizers of the Cleveland Browns Fan Cruise to do all the pre-cruise multi-media, alumni interviews, and marketing for that inaugural cruise. In year 3 we signed on with TrueFan Travel and were lucky enough to experience one of their all-inclusive travel packages to an away game for the Cleveland Browns (we got to go with them to the New Orleans Saints game). These partnerships and lots of hard work have allowed us to build a sizable core audience and given us a platform to do something that we absolutely love doing: watch and talk about our beloved Cleveland Browns and interact with fellow fans.
Being a Cleveland Browns fan is unlike being a part of a fan base of any other professional team or sport. There is something inherent and raw about the way we and the millions of Browns fans around the world feel about and engage with this team and that is part of what makes doing this so fun. The continued conversations with players and fans alike drive home, every single time, how passionate this fan base is and what it means to be a fan of this football team.
As far as the mothership, Tap In Media, we have a number of projects in the works right now. These projects include: Man In The Arena with Jonah Schulz which is available now on all podcast directories, a documentary project that would likely include the Browns Backers, and a potential local true crime story. We also have interest in commercial media and advertising.
However, through this journey we’ve truly fallen in love with the podcast space. Our dream is to one day host a network full of podcasts by being the conduit for creators that are thoughtful and have something to say but may not know what kind of audio equipment they need or what type of camera to buy or how to record their show or how to hook up to podcast directories. We want to facilitate emerging voices in entertainment all across the world.
Going forward we have some new and exciting partnerships in the works and we look forward to continuing our journey with Burning River Sportscast as the Unofficial Podcast of Cleveland Browns Backers Everywhere, the Official Podcast of Some Cleveland Browns Backers Somewhere, and The Best Damn Cleveland Browns Podcast in The Land. We also look forward to growing Tap In Media and one day turning TiM into a household name.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. There are a lot of long hours that come with producing any media project from start to finish and this podcast has been no exception. We’ve sacrificed a lot of time with family and loved ones in order to put out a quality product. We’ve also had to deal with temporary plateaus in growth on our socials, severed relationships with partners, and technical difficulties that have wiped out complete episodes that we had to reshoot. The struggles have been real but we use those struggles as opportunities to learn, grow, and improve the product that we are putting out.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Tap In Media, LLC?
Tap In Media, LLC is a multi-media production company. We have a number of projects active or in the works right now. These projects include: “Burning River Sportscast: A Cleveland Browns Podcast” (this project is our baby and the one that we work on personally as a labor of love) and “Man In The Arena with Jonah Schulz” both of which are available now on all podcast directories, a documentary project that would likely include the Browns Backers, and a potential local true crime story.

What were you like growing up?
Ronnie and Kenny (Founders of Tap In Media, LLC and hosts of Burning River Sportscast: A Cleveland Browns Podcast) grew up together and attended the same high school (Field High School in the Mogadore, OH area). We graduated together in 2008. We played football together and have been best friends since our sophomore year in that high school. We’ve always had a passion for football, we both grew up Cleveland sports fans and will stay that way until we die, and we’ve always loved our Buckeyes on Saturday afternoons. We’ve both been extremely family oriented our whole lives and we’ve always been able to find a good time in anything that we’re doing.
