Hidden Gems: Meet Teresa Bunn of Teresa Uptown Hair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teresa Bunn.

Hi Teresa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In high school, I first discovered my passion for cosmetology at our local career center. Despite my excitement, my mother wasn’t thrilled with the idea, often persuading me to take different paths. After trying college, In my early 20’s I realized my heart was still in beauty, so I committed to cosmetology school.

It hasn’t always been smooth. I’ve explored various jobs, had two children and am finally navigating my way through building a clientele—which a couple years ago felt nearly impossible at times!

I’m consistently growing and evolving in my career. Whenever I feel I’ve hit a plateau in my growth, I dive deep into business, social media, technical skills or whatever it may be that I feel is holding me back.

Currently, I specialize in extensions, dimensional color, and detailed cuts and am constantly working to stay on-trend.

My mom is now one of my biggest fans and seeing her pride makes every struggle worth it.

Nothing worth having comes easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, I felt like every time things were going smooth and I was making progress, something big would happen and I’d have to re create a new plan to reach my goals. I have always been a person that follows through even in times where my goal seems unattainable. Being driven and dedicated are two things that have been my saving grace!!!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a booth rent Hairstylist specializing in hair extensions, dimensional color and detailed haircuts in Beavercreek, Ohio. I am mostly known for offering I-tip Extensions which are also known as individuals or strand by strand. I feel offering these extensions are what sets me apart and is definitely my zone of genius.
With my brand, I am most proud of the growth in my online presence this last year. I have worked very hard in self educating myself to market towards my dream target market and I can feel the momentum finally taking off!

My ultimate goal in doing hair is keeping my clients hair as healthy as possible to help nurture their natural hair while they enjoy their extensions. I also offer weft extensions and love to create amazing transformations.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success is achieving growth and resilience through hard work and perseverance. It’s about creating a career that reflects my dedication and authenticity while constantly pushing to learn and move forward.
