Hidden Gems: Meet Summer Taylor of Tailored Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Taylor. 

Hi Summer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a young girl, watching my mother care for others warranted me to want to be a nurse. At the age of 16, I became an STNA in Ohio. After working as a caregiver for 6 years, I decided it’s time to change, I went to school to be a nurse and now I’ve been a nurse a little over 9 years. Tailored Care came about in Jan 2019. I was ready to become the boss I always wanted. I was ready to tackle to challenge of being a business owner. But I did not just want to be a business owner I wanted to be overly involved in the care we provide at Tailored Care. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Tailored Care Road hasn’t always been smoothed. We opened right before the pandemic and people did not want strangers in their homes. That soon changed when the loved ones needed to go back to work. Tailored Care finally had an opportunity to show Dayton, Ohio who we were and how we strive off the amazing care we give. 

As you know, we’re big fans of Tailored Care, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Tailored Care, opened back in Jan 2019. We were located Downtown Dayton for 2 years before moving inside the Dayton Mall. Tailored Care is a private, affordable home health agency located right in Dayton, Ohio. Our goal at Tailored Care is to make sure that our customers and loved ones get the treatment they need in the comfort of their own homes. At Tailored Care, we strive for excellence and a pleasant culture. We will soon be the chosen home health care agency in Dayton, Ohio, thanks to our professional and devoted personnel. Tailored Care not only cares for the community, we train people who want to join the healthcare field. We offer BLS basic life support (CPR) and CNA certified nurse aide training M-Sa, with class start dates weekly. What’s makes us different you ask? Tailored Care is the only home health agency in Dayton right now who offers home care Tailored to YOUR NEEDS, we do not believe in cookie-cutter care plans. We strive in the care we give as well as the training we provide. 

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
When I opened Tailored Care, I still worked full-time as an RN Case-manager. In April 2021 I quit my full-time job and took on Tailored Care full-time. It was the hardest decision I had ever made. I hadn’t even discuss this with my family yet. I jumped out on a leap of faith and I am so grateful I did! During that time, I were able to obtain my BSN and now I’m working on my master’s program. It was scary but worth the risk!
