Hi Ronnie and Tracie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2021, A good friend of mine decided he was going to retire from being a DJ. He asked if i was interested in taking over his business and his clients. After long consideration, we decided to help with his clients and start our own business. We decided if we were going to do it, we wanted it to be not just about the music and the events, but about Family. A Family Affair Productions was born that day. Over the next 4 years, we have strived to not only have the best equipment but to treat everyone we work with as family. We have worked with so many families and been a part of so many special events. We have truly been blessed. We are still friends with a lot of our past clients and look forward to continue those relationships and many more in the future.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In this business, there are always struggles. There are a lot of DJs out there. Finding your place among them and getting the respect from other DJ’s was a huge goal for us. Then COVID came along and basically shut everything down. Getting through Covid and then getting back in the swing of things was a huge challenge. We overcame that and I believe we are a better company today because of it. Every event is a challenge, because we always demand perfection from ourselves
As you know, we’re big fans of A Family Affair Productions. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Owning a DJ business is a very exciting time in our lives. So many Weddings, Great Memories and so much more. We mainly do Weddings, Schools and all different parties, but we have certain clients we work with all the time. From country clubs to the yearly fundraisers, we are always looking to give back. Every DJ company can play music. We all have the same songs, same tempos, and a lot of us, may even use the same equipment. What makes us different from everyone else is how we handle the moment. When doing a wedding, guest listen to every word you say. How you speak to there guests about special moments happening, how you relay those words and the tempo that you bring to that moment. I have always said it is like being an actor. You have to prepare for that moment for weeks leading up to their event. I honestly believe what sets us apart from other companies, is not only the way we handle ourselves during the event but leading up to the event. We meet with each client before the event to chat and see what their vision is for that day. What can we help with, what else would you need from us. We always include their Wedding Rehearsal in our package. We Run through the entire Ceremony until we get it right and we all feel comfortable. We offer 3 packages to make it easier for our Weddings. The Bride and Groom already have so many other decisions to make, why make it difficult. They can also choose from different addons we offer as well. From Uplighting, Lasting Memories or even the Old School Disco Balls. We pride ourselves in being a small business in our community. We welcome charity events, and we do a lot of them at no cost. We honestly believe that treating others like Family, not only has made us a successful company but we have made a lot of lifelong friends along the way. We welcome every single person we work with, with open arms. Not only are they our clients, but they will always be a part of our family.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Treating others as you want to be treated. Treating each event as it is the most important event in the world at that moment. Going above and beyond what is needed to make the moment a success. We believe in doing what is necessary to make that moment magical for them no matter the additional work. I honestly believe what makes our company such a success is our clients. 90% of our events come from Referrals. They believe in us, they trust us, and when their day comes together and you make that moment so magical and amazing, they talk about it with their friends, their family and they always recommend us to everyone.
