Hidden Gems: Meet Milan Dayalal of Virtualvetdoc Corp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Milan Dayalal.

Hi Milan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
How VirtualVetDoc Started

VirtualVetDoc was born out of a simple but urgent realization: pet owners were waiting too long — and paying too much — to access basic veterinary care.

Like many families across the country, I saw firsthand how difficult it had become to get timely appointments. In many communities, especially rural and agricultural areas, veterinarians are booked 10 days or more in advance. Meanwhile, minor concerns turn into major problems simply because pet owners cannot get quick guidance from a qualified professional.

At the same time, we live in a world where we can meet with physicians, therapists, and specialists virtually — yet veterinary care has been slow to adopt the same convenience.

That gap inspired me to build VirtualVetDoc.

Our mission is simple:

Provide fast, affordable access to licensed veterinarians

Reduce unnecessary emergency visits

Support pet owners in rural and underserved communities

Give peace of mind when it’s needed most

We assembled a team of highly qualified veterinarians who share a passion for accessible care. Through secure virtual consultations, we help pet owners determine next steps, manage minor conditions, and make informed decisions about their animals’ health — without long waiting times or unnecessary costs.

VirtualVetDoc is not here to replace traditional veterinary clinics. We are here to support them — to bridge the gap, triage concerns, and make expert advice more accessible.

What started as an idea to solve a frustrating problem has grown into a mission: making veterinary care more convenient, more affordable, and more available to the families and farmers who need it most.

And we’re just getting started.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The Challenges We’ve Faced

Building VirtualVetDoc has been incredibly rewarding — but it has not been without obstacles.

Navigating State Regulations

Veterinary medicine is regulated at the state level, and telemedicine laws vary significantly across the country. Unlike human healthcare, where virtual coverage models are more established, veterinary telehealth is still evolving.

Each state has its own rules regarding:

Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationships (VCPR)

Prescribing authority

Cross-state licensure

Telemedicine standards

Staying compliant while expanding access requires constant diligence, legal guidance, and collaboration with regulatory bodies. We remain committed to operating ethically, transparently, and within the framework of each state’s veterinary board.

Customer Acquisition & Education

Another major challenge has been awareness.

Virtual veterinary care is still a new concept for many pet owners. People are accustomed to traditional in-clinic visits and may not immediately realize that many concerns can be addressed virtually — saving time, stress, and money.

Educating the public about:

When virtual care is appropriate

How telehealth complements in-person visits

The convenience and affordability it offers

has been one of our biggest growth hurdles.

But we believe education drives adoption. And adoption drives access.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our Mission

Our mission is simple:
To help as many animals receive quality veterinary care as possible.

Access to veterinary care should not depend on geography, scheduling delays, or financial barriers. Every animal deserves timely guidance from a qualified professional — whether they live in a major city, a rural farming community, or anywhere in between.

At VirtualVetDoc, we are proud to serve all types of animals, including:

Dogs

Cats

Farm animals

Equine

Exotic pets

Small mammals

And more

We believe veterinary care should be inclusive, accessible, and adaptable to the real-world needs of animal owners.

By combining experienced, licensed veterinarians with secure virtual technology, we aim to bridge gaps in care, reduce unnecessary suffering, and support both pet owners and agricultural communities.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about convenience —
it’s about compassion, access, and better outcomes for animals everywhere.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
A Journey Built on Risk and Belief

Entrepreneurship requires conviction. It requires stepping into uncertainty long before there are guarantees.

One of the biggest risks I ever took was leaving Sri Lanka to come to the United States for my education. I left behind familiarity, comfort, and certainty in pursuit of opportunity and growth.

That decision shaped who I am.

It taught me resilience. It taught me adaptability. It taught me that meaningful progress often requires bold moves.

Building VirtualVetDoc is no different.

Launching a virtual veterinary platform in an industry that is still navigating telemedicine regulations is not the “safe” path. Expanding access to care across state lines, educating consumers about a new model of service, and challenging traditional norms all require continued risk-taking.

But the mission makes the risk worthwhile.

If traveling across the world for an education taught me anything, it’s this: growth happens outside of comfort zones. And helping animals receive accessible care is a mission worth betting on.

The risk-taking didn’t stop when I landed in America — it evolved. And it continues every day as we build VirtualVetDoc into a platform that expands access to veterinary care for animals everywhere.
