Hidden Gems: Meet Miesha Wilson of Juicy Vegan/NuLife Fitness Camp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miesha Wilson.

Hi Miesha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Miesha Wilson, and my journey started in Cleveland, Ohio, where I was born into extremely challenging circumstances. Raised by a 15-year-old mother and navigating the trauma of childhood abuse, foster care, and instability, I had every reason to give up. But I refused. Instead, I turned my pain into purpose.
I found healing and discipline through health and wellness. What started as a personal transformation evolved into a passion for helping others reclaim their lives. That passion became NuLife Fitness Camp, a group fitness and weight management facility that’s been changing lives for nearly two decades. We’ve served over 10,000 members and built a true community rooted in accountability, education, and transformation.

From there, I launched Juicy Vegan, Cleveland’s only Black, female-owned vegan restaurant in its district, offering flavorful plant-based meals and soon expanding into a larger commercial space to create a hub for local entrepreneurs. I also founded NuLife Charities and NuLife University, offering wellness education and fitness certification programs to underserved communities, particularly youth.

I’ve earned multiple degrees, became a real estate investor, and created pathways not just for my own healing—but for others to thrive as well. Every venture I build is about more than business—it’s about legacy, access, and showing people that no matter where you start, you have the power to rewrite your story.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve had to overcome some of life’s deepest wounds—growing up in environments where survival came before dreams. Those early years left emotional and psychological scars that I had to unlearn and heal from.
Even as I started building NuLife Fitness Camp, there were constant hurdles—financial struggles, learning how to run a business without a blueprint, balancing motherhood, and fighting to earn respect in an industry where Black women are often overlooked. There were times I wanted to give up, times when I questioned if it was worth it. But I knew that my purpose was bigger than my pain.

When I opened Juicy Vegan, there were financial challenges, limited space, and the pressure of proving that plant-based food could thrive in a city like Cleveland, especially in a food desert. But I leaned into my community, stayed true to the mission, and kept building—brick by brick, soul by soul.

Every struggle has made me stronger and more committed to breaking generational cycles—not just for myself, but for everyone I serve. My path wasn’t easy, but it was necessary.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At the heart of everything I do is transformation. I’m the founder of NuLife Fitness Camp, Juicy Vegan, and NuLife Charities—all rooted in the belief that wellness is not a luxury, it’s a necessity, especially for underserved communities.
NuLife Fitness Camp is a group fitness and weight management facility that’s been serving the Cleveland community for over 19 years. We specialize in high-energy bootcamp-style workouts, indoor cycling, strength training, and step classes—all designed to create real, sustainable results. But what truly sets us apart is the accountability, community, and care we provide. We’re not just a gym—we’re a family. People come to us when they’ve tried everything else and need real support and education to change their lives.

Juicy Vegan is our plant-based restaurant located in the Waterloo Arts District. We’re known for delicious, flavor-filled vegan food that doesn’t compromise on taste. As the only Black, female-owned vegan eatery in our district—and soon expanding into a 4000+ sq ft commercial space—we’re creating not just great food, but jobs, retail space for other entrepreneurs, and a safe space for community. We also recently introduced a vegan breakfast line and will soon launch our vegan desserts.

NuLife Charities and NuLife University focus on education and empowerment. We offer youth programming and fitness certifications to high school students and aspiring fitness instructors, especially from underserved backgrounds. We’re building a pipeline to purpose—helping people turn their passion for wellness into real careers.

What sets my brands apart is that they’re all deeply personal and community-centered. Everything I build is grounded in healing, access, equity, and excellence. I’m most proud of the impact—seeing lives changed, confidence restored, and families inspired to take better care of themselves.

For your readers: if you’re looking for a place that will pour into you, hold you accountable, feed your body and your soul, NuLife is the movement. Whether you’re ready to get fit, eat better, or find purpose—there’s a space for you here.

How do you think about luck?
I wouldn’t really call it luck—I believe in faith, purpose, and divine timing. Everything I’ve been through—every setback, every challenge, every closed door—was part of God’s plan to shape me into who I am today. My faith has been my anchor, especially when the road got hard and I couldn’t see the way forward.
There were moments when the odds were completely against me, when resources were scarce, or when I felt unseen and unheard. But I leaned into my faith and trusted that what was meant for me would not miss me. Doors opened. People showed up. Opportunities made their way to me not by chance, but through obedience, resilience, and staying aligned with my purpose.

Starting businesses with limited capital, expanding in neighborhoods that many overlook, and turning trauma into testimony—none of that came from luck. It came from being guided by something bigger than me. My faith gave me the courage to take risks, to start over when needed, and to believe in a vision that others couldn’t see yet.

So when people ask how I made it, my answer is simple: God made a way.
