Hidden Gems: Meet Melinda Payne of Melinda Payne Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melinda Payne. 

Hi Melinda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started when I had a conversation with then friend when I asked the question: “if you could pick a career for me, what would it be” his answer was: Event Planner. At that moment everything clicked and I became very excited about what the possibilities could be. My very first wedding was for a family member and I remember being extremely excited while planning, designing, and executing. After that, I began seeking out other people in my industry to teach me all that they could about how all of this works. Who were the best vendors, best venues, etc… and how important it is to continually educate yourself by taking the industry training. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a completely smooth road. Running a business can have many rewards as well as pitfalls. When I first started it was a 1 woman’s show. I did everything from client onboarding to execution of the design. Even when you have a team, there could be times that you don’t have enough staff to show up for work and you have to figure out how to pull of the grand event and design concept. That presents an enormous amount of stress but we can’t fold we have to get it done. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am an event planning and design company. We plan and design small intimate events to grand-scale events. Social, Private, and Corporate. We are known for our execution of planning and design. We provide services locally but we also travel and provide planning and design services outside of the city, state, and country. I’m the proudest brand-wise with how I have evolved in what my logo, website, and social media presence look like as well as creating easier on and offboarding processes for my clients. I’d like the readers to know that we stand by our product (us) we aim to please and not disappoint our clients. We will not let you down. You are our priority! We offer event planning, coordination, and design. In some cases, counseling. We are here to take care of you and all you have to do is show up! 

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe everyone is gifted with a talent and mine just happens to be serving others through coordination, planning, and designing their special event. I get to make someone’s day a little more special by taking the worry and stress away.
