Hidden Gems: Meet Lindsy Lockett of Lockett Lash Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsy Lockett.

Hi Lindsy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2015, I stumbled into the lash industry with no experience – just curiosity and drive. I learned the basics at a local shop and quickly fell in love with the artistry, precision, and the way clients lit up after each set. As the industry became regulated, I enrolled in esthetics school and earned my license to stay compliant and grow professionally. I took advanced courses, became one of the first in my area to offer volume lashes, and opened my own salon in 2018. Within two years, I expanded from a two-room space to a custom six-room studio, created my own lash product line, and began training aspiring lash techs. In 2024, I launched a internship program, and in 2025, I founded Empower Through Esthetics, a city-funded youth program focused on beauty, confidence, and entrepreneurship.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I started, I was single mom working from 9 AM to 10 PM most days, trying to build a business while raising my son. I didn’t have a business background so I had to learn everything though trial, error, and sacrifice.
Maintaining a relationship while running a growing business was also difficult. When you’re constantly working, it’s hard to balance time, emotions, and energy with your partner. I’ve had to learn how to set boundaries and communicate better to keep both my business and personal life healthy.
There were definitely moments of burnout, self-doubt, and isolation – but every challenge helped me grow. Now, I’m proud of the systems I’ve built, the people I’ve helped, and the balance I continue to work toward.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely – my journey would not be what it is without the support of so many amazing people.
First and foremost, my family has been my foundation. as a mom, balancing business and parenthood hasn’t always been easy, but their love, encouragement, and help with my son have been everything. They’ve supported me through the long hours, the late nights, and all the moments in between – and that’s made all the difference.
My clients have also played a huge role in my success. Many have been with me from the beginning, referring others, giving honest feedback, and believing in my vision. Their loyalty is what helped my business grow organically.
On the professional side, when I first started, I didn’t have any mentors or guidance – I really had to figure things out on my own when it came to running the business. But over the past few years, I’ve made it a point to get out into the community and connect with others. That led me to some incredible resources, like the MBAC (Minority Business Assistance Center), Through MBAC and other small business networks in Ohio, I’ve gained access to support, networking opportunities, and valuable advice that I wish I had earlier.
I’m also thankful for my team of independent artists and collaborators who bring creativity and positive energy to the studio daily, and local partners like Main Feed Media and Midwest Crafting Crew, who help us expand our impact beyond beauty services.
