Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Roberts.
Hi Kristi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into pediatric sleep consulting started with my own experience as a tired mom searching for answers in the middle of the night. When my oldest daughter was a baby, naps became stressful, nights felt exhausting, and I spent far too much time researching sleep and trying advice that never seemed to fully work for our family.
During that season, a friend recommended that I work with a sleep consultant, which at the time was something I had never even heard of. That conversation changed my life and completely changed the way I approached parenting. What stood out to me most was that I did not need more generic sleep advice. I needed personalized support, a clear plan, and someone who could help me understand the science behind why my child was struggling with sleep in the first place.
That experience inspired me to become a certified pediatric sleep consultant and launch Little Sleepers, Big Dreamers Pediatric Sleep Consulting in 2016. I have a Master of Science and a Master of Public Health, and I’ve always been passionate about science, education, and promoting positive behavior change. I love combining evidence based sleep science with practical, personalized support that helps families feel confident and empowered.
Today, I work with families across the United States helping babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and multiples learn healthy sleep habits. I often tell parents that sleep is like a puzzle. When we align the right puzzle pieces, children can build the skills they need to become confident, independent sleepers. I help families navigate everything from bedtime struggles and frequent night wakings to short naps, early mornings, and sleep transitions.
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is watching exhausted parents go from overwhelmed and discouraged to confident and rested again. Better sleep creates such a positive ripple effect throughout the home, and I feel incredibly grateful that I get to help families experience that every day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall, it really has been a positive and rewarding journey because I genuinely love what I do. Helping exhausted parents feel confident and supported is incredibly fulfilling, and I feel very fortunate to have built a business that aligns so closely with my passions, education, and strengths.
That being said, running a business and supporting families through challenging seasons of parenting definitely comes with responsibility and growth. Every child and family is different, so this work requires continuous learning, adaptability, patience, and strong communication. Over the years, I have gained so much experience not only through my education and certification, but also through working with hundreds of families and navigating parenting with my own children.
One challenge in today’s world is that parents are constantly flooded with sleep advice from social media, TikTok, blogs, online forums, and now even AI. While there is more information available than ever before, many parents end up feeling more confused and overwhelmed because so much of the advice is conflicting, unrealistic, or not designed for their specific child. I think that has actually reinforced the value of personalized support from a trained professional who can look at the full picture and create a plan tailored to a child’s temperament, development, family dynamics, and goals.
I often tell parents that sleep is like a puzzle. My role is to help families align the right puzzle pieces so their child can build healthy sleep habits and become a confident, independent sleeper.
As my business has grown, I have also learned how important it is to balance being both a business owner and a mom. Like many women entrepreneurs, there have been seasons of juggling family life, client support, continuing education, content creation, and the everyday responsibilities that come with running a business. But even through those challenges, I have always felt very connected to my purpose and grateful for the families who trust me to support them during such an important stage of life.
We’ve been impressed with Little Sleepers, Big Dreamers Pediatric Sleep Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Little Sleepers, Big Dreamers Pediatric Sleep Consulting helps families with children ages 0 to 5 build healthy sleep habits through evidence based sleep support. I work with families across the United States helping babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and multiples navigate challenges like bedtime struggles, frequent night wakings, short naps, early rising, schedule issues, and sleep transitions.
I offer virtual sleep consultations, customized written sleep plans, and support packages designed to guide families through the process with education, structure, and encouragement. One thing I think is important for families to understand is that sleep support is not one size fits all. The strategies I use with an infant are very different from the approaches I use with a toddler or preschooler. For example, with preschoolers, communication strategies, boundaries, and behavior often become a much bigger piece of the puzzle.
What really sets my business apart is my education, experience, and focus on helping parents understand the “why” behind their child’s sleep challenges. I have a Master of Science, a Master of Public Health, and my certification in pediatric sleep consulting through the Family Sleep Institute. Since starting my business in 2016, I have worked with families in many different situations and stages of development, which has given me both professional experience and practical perspective.
I think many parents today are overwhelmed by all of the conflicting advice online and on social media. My goal is to help families cut through the noise and provide clear guidance, practical strategies, and ongoing support that helps children build healthy, independent sleep habits.
I often tell families that sleep is like a puzzle. There are many different pieces that impact a child’s sleep, including schedules, routines, environment, development, behavior, temperament, sleep pressure, nutrition, and consistency. My role is to help families align those puzzle pieces so their child can become a confident, independent sleeper.
Brand wise, I am most proud of the relationships and trust I have built with families over the years. Much of my business has grown through word of mouth referrals from happy clients, pediatricians, therapists, lactation consultants, and local professionals, which means so much to me. There is nothing more rewarding than hearing a parent say they finally feel rested, confident, and able to enjoy parenting again.
I also want readers to know that pediatric sleep consulting is not just about getting more sleep at night. Healthy sleep impacts emotional regulation, development, learning, behavior, and overall family well being. When children sleep well, the entire household functions better, and that positive ripple effect is something I feel very passionate about helping families achieve.
What’s next?
Looking ahead, my biggest goal is to continue supporting families and expanding the educational resources and support I can provide to parents. Sleep science and child development are always evolving, so I am constantly learning, researching, and continuing my education to make sure I am providing families with the most current, evidence based information and strategies.
I’m also excited to continue growing relationships within my community and collaborating with other professionals and businesses that support children and families. I love connecting with pediatricians, therapists, lactation consultants, postpartum professionals, and other parent focused businesses because I truly believe families benefit most when they have a strong support system and trusted resources around them.
As my business grows, I would love to continue expanding my educational content, workshops, digital resources, and community outreach so I can help even more families feel informed, confident, and supported. One of my favorite parts of this work is helping parents understand that healthy sleep habits are a skill that can be learned, and I look forward to continuing to educate and encourage families through every stage of early childhood.
Most importantly, I want to continue building a business that families trust. That has always been the heart of Little Sleepers, Big Dreamers, and I hope to keep making a positive impact for parents and children for many years to come.
