Today we’d like to introduce you to Judy Sheard.
Hi Judy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started this guided trail ride business back in 2016 with the mission of sharing the wonderful world of horses with those who have not had the pleasure of being around these awesome creatures.
Ove the years, new trails and new experiences with horses have increased many joyful encounters between horses and people. We offer guided trail rides for everyone… from beginner trails to advanced trails. Trail riders must be at least 6 years old or older to ride the trails and there is a 230lb weight limit on riders. Nation Road Horse Rental is a walk/trot stable. For the little ones, ages 3-6 years of age, our Parent-Assisted Pony Rides are perfect to introduce the youngsters to horses and horseback riding.
All trail rides and parent-assisted pony rides are scheduled by calling 513-255-5752. A non-refundable deposit of 20% is due at time of reserving a trail ride/pony ride with the balance due at time of ride.
Guided Trail Rides
Trail #1E – easy 2-mile trail
Trail #2E – easy 4-mile trail
Trail #3M – moderate 4-mile trail
Trail #3C – moderate 4-mile trail with cantering possible (adults only trail with other restrictions)
Trail #4M – moderate 6-mile trail
Trail #5A – advanced 5-mile trail
All trail rides and parent-assisted pony rides are weather and/or trail condition permitting. All riders MUST arrive a minimum of 25 minutes PRIOR to their scheduled ride time to prevent forfeiting the trail ride.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been quite an amazing journey over the years! From the start, getting the word out that we offer guided trail rides to the public, to the additions of creating fun trails to ride with different skill levels to different trail lengths. Every year we try to come up with new ideas, new trails, new equine experiences to share with people.
Maintaining the trails and keeping our horses healthy and fresh, are always priorities with Nation Road Horse Rental. Our trail guides and volunteers are some of the best in the business, seeking to keep our customers safe on trail rides as well as having fun.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nation Road Horse Rental, LLC?
In 2025, we are ending our 10th year of operation and looking towards offering more in 2026. Our official riding season starts mid-April and runs through the end of October. If the weather remains somewhat nice, we will continue to ride in November on the weekends. There are certain days we may be closed for special events and cannot offer rides on that day.
Mid-April – May 31st, we are open Saturdays and Sundays
June 1st – August 31st, we are open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
September 1st – October 31st, we are open Saturdays and Sundays
For payments on the non-refundable deposit over the phone, a credit card or debit card is needed. In person payments on the day of your ride, we prefer cash but also accept credit cards and debit cards.
All riders 17 years of age and younger are required to wear a riding helmet, which we offer at no additional cost. Adults (18 years of age and older) have a choice of wearing a riding helmet.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey as owner/operator of Nation Road Horse Rental is that sharing the wonderful world of horses brings many smiles to the faces of people who have never had the opportunity to be near a horse.
