Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Campbell
Hi Erica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I always tell people, this career choose me. Just like any other college student, I really didn’t know what career I was interested in. I was really all over the place. My first major was communications. I wanted to be a news broadcaster. That didn’t work out. I tried nursing but couldn’t pass chemistry. So the next best thing was social work. I started off in a nursing home but I felt it was super slow and boring at times. I than received a job offer from The Centers for Families and Children. That’s where I fell in love with mental health. I really didn’t have a lot of knowledge about mental health but I started to educate myself. I started to have a better understanding of the struggles that people go through who suffer from mental health. This is where my passion begin for mental health. I than started working as a Clinical Supervisor at Renaissance Behavioral Health. That’s where I gained the most knowledge. I was able to build from scratch different programming and clinical departments. I was able to create the structure, policies, and processes for quality services. Once I departed from there, I realized , I can really build my own community behavioral health clinic. I started off in January 2023 as New Vision Counseling Services. I was going through the process and had a tragic death in my family. I was discourage, depressed, and unmotivated to do anything at that time. So everything was at a standstill. In September of 2023, I received a phone call from my consultant, checking in and asking me why I’m not billing under New Vision Counseling. I explained to her the mental state I was in and I knew I needed more time. About a week later Qunita Tangoh called me and asked me what am I doing and why aren’t we starting our own. That was the moment I knew I had to gather myself and get to work. That’s when me and Qunita created New Vision Health and Wellness. We been working ever since.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has absolutely not been a smooth road. Anytime you are trying to build something great, its never easy. I think the hardest part is trying to make sure everything is to the standard of the OMHAS and joint commission. Another frustrated part is the processing of credentialing. It was very time consuming. Trying to find a perfect, affordable location, and just overcoming the doubts of starting a new business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

What sets New Vision apart from others is the authenticity we provide. One of my main goals for New Vision is to not only create awareness but to education every person we touch on their symptoms, treatments, and strategies they can utilize to improve their mental health. Our first priority is our clients and their well-being. If we can’t provide what the client needs to improve their daily functioning, we will refer them to someone who can.
New Vision Health and Wellness is not only a community mental health clinic, It’s a brand. I am very big on educating the community on mental health and the importance of seeking assistance to improve themselves. I am starting Mental Health Mondays on our Instagram platform @newvision_hw216. I will be discussing different diagnosis, symptoms, and treatments options. Eventually Mental Health Mondays will evolve into a podcast. I also attend different community events to spread knowledge about mental health.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality or characteristic that I feel is most important is being authentic and relatable. I have experience a lot in my 33 years of life and I use those experiences to help and inspire others. I did not have it easy at all growing up and I always let my clients know that I am improving myself daily just like them.
