Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Lucak.
Hi Elizabeth, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been a hair stylist for sixteen years. It’s my dream career, something I’ve always wanted to do from a young age. I’ve worked in a few salons throughout the years. It definitely takes work to build not only your clientele, but to also learn how to talk and communicate with your guests. I love building relationships with my guests and not only listening to their wants and goals with their hair, but also hearing about their lives and families. It’s such a special industry not alot of careers get to experience the same thing and have such personal relationships with their guests. I opened up my suite in Westlake almost a year ago and its the best thing I ever did. I love having control over my own schedule, and my guests like the more relaxed experience of having a private space.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This year has been a very busy one for me it feels like a whirlwind. Opening up a new business and then getting engaged and planning a wedding, I’ve been very busy. As a hairstylist of sixteen years, I love my craft and my guests, but the independent business side is a whole different thing. Having to figure out how to run a new business is a learning curve all on its own. From ordering product, to all of the paperwork, keeping receipts and figuring out how to do taxes, and let’s not mention having to remember passwords and fill out all of the necessary forms online. It’s a good thing my fiance is very tech savy and can figure out little maintenance things around the salon. We make a great team.
As you know, we’re big fans of Lizzy’s Salon 84. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am an independent hairstylist. I have my own salon suite at Sola in Westlake Ohio. I make a point of building relationships with my guests and leveraging the contacts I have made from years of established clientele. In my sixteen years as a stylist I have specialized in grey coverage and dimensional colors with highlights. I switched my color line from Wella to Schwarzkopf this year and my clients love it, they seem to like the dimension, blending and longevity of the color more. I also specialize in short womens cuts, like pixie cuts , but I also cut men’s hair as well. What sets me apart is that I love what I do and I love creating my own space where people feel comfortable and can relax and feel pampered. I make my own schedule so I can ensure I have enough time with each guest where they dont feel rushed and can get the service they want.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is living life to the fullest and really enjoying every moment. You never know what’s going to happen in life. I’ve worked so hard to get where I am. I have a wonderful fiance that has really changed my life. We both support each other and are each others biggest fans. He is my best friend and I cannot wait to call him my husband. My family also means so much to me. I love them and they have always been there for me.
