Hidden Gems: Meet Chelsea Mozel of Balanced Business Solutions, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Mozel.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hey there, I’m Chelsea! A wife, mom of two, and an Online Business Manager & Conversion Copywriter for small businesses.

My college degree is actually in Athletic Training (Sports Medicine), and about halfway through my college career I realized I did not want to actually be an Athletic Trainer for my profession, but I didn’t want to start all over because I honestly wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do. I love sports, I love working out, I am a fitness enthusiast and I love helping people, so I enjoyed Athletic Training because I got to be surrounded by inspiring athletes and help them physically recover from injuries to be able to participate in their sport, but the hours were *terrible*.

I fell in love with my husband during my freshman year of college, and when I started having to miss a lot of family functions due to my Athletic Training internships, I just knew I couldn’t do that long-term because I knew I would never want to miss out on my kid’s sporting events to be taking care of other kids at theirs.

Out of college, I was able to get a job working for a local Orthopaedic office where I could use my AT skills, and I enjoyed the regular hours and no weekend work (hallelujah!).

A few years into that job, a friend opened up a local gym and I was immediately drawn to going there for fitness classes. It was apparent that owning the business was a lot for my friend to handle alone, and naturally being a helper, I started stepping in here and there to help with administrative work to ease her work load, and eventually turned my fitness passion into a part-time job as a fitness instructor there as well.

When I got pregnant with my son, I was offered a full-time position as the Manager of the gym – and with the extreme support of my husband, I made the leap and went all in.

I knew this was the way I could be home with my kids, and bring them to work with me if I needed to, and continue to be fulfilled work wise & as a wife and a mom.

Through my time at the gym, I was promoted to Director of Operations and I learned SO MUCH about business through first hand experience walking through each and every step there. I am someone who is all about “do it with me” as opposed to “do as I say”, so I knew how to do every job there, and I figured it all out as I went.

After about 8 years there, I decided to part ways so I could be even more available for my kids and be able to work on my own time & be able to serve more small businesses and be a part of their growth. I realized that the parts I loved most about my job were the behind-the-scenes tasks that often go unnoticed, but make the biggest differences in growth and long term success, and that is what I wanted to help other small business owners achieve, while helping them find more balance in their lives by taking care of those administrative tasks for them.

I launched my own Virtual Assistant business, Balanced Business Solutions, in 2022 and have been serving small business owners all across the US since. The business has grown exponentially and I’ve shifted to offering more in depth support to business owners as an Online Business Manager, as well as a tech and launch specialist, and conversion copywriter.

Just like with my time at the gym, I have a desire to know all parts of this business and I’m constantly working with mentors in different fields to grow my experience and be able to offer full service marketing and growth support for each of the small business owners I work with. It’s been such a joy to be able to impact so many business owners, and help tackle their to do list for them so they don’t have to struggle trying to do it all by themselves. They can focus on building true connections with their ideal clients, and I can focus on the administrative and marketing tasks that have to be done to keep things moving smoothly for them and help them move the needle forward in their businesses.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Running your own business is never a smooth road. There are always obstacles, always new things you have to learn, and always uncomfortable positions you’re put in where you need to be brave, bold, and confident in yourself.

There are no secure wages in this type of field, and that can be scary and a true test of your strength to trust in the process and believe in what you have to offer. Marketing yourself is HARD!

As an introvert, putting myself out there in hopes of someone liking and trusting me enough to want to work with me has been the biggest test of all. The no’s can be discouraging, and even make some people question whether this type of business is what they are cut out for. But I have grown more in since starting my own business than ever before, and I truly believe every no has been worth it along the way to help me learn how to continue to show up, believe in myself, and find the right yes’s for me.

Another big struggle is me saying no to people! I am a people pleaser by nature, and I always want to say yes to everything.

-Sure I can do that…
-Yes, I’ll stop what I’m doing now and take care of that for you….
-Yeah I can squeeze you into my schedule there even though I had something else planned…

Even saying yes to clients that didn’t feel like a great fit for me because I wanted to secure that income.

But as my business grows and I continue to grow myself, I’m able to say no more and respect my boundaries and truly wait for clients that are the right fit for me, who inspire me to grow and lead with a servant heart. So those hard parts in this business? They are absolutely necessary for true growth and long term success and enjoyment in what I get to do every single day & the incredible people I get to work with.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Balanced Business Solutions is a comprehensive business support company that specializes in helping overwhelmed female entrepreneurs get out of the weeds and back to doing what they love.

What sets me apart is my unique combination of skills: I’m both an Online Business Manager AND a conversion copywriter, which means I don’t just tell you what to do – I actually implement it for you. While most business consultants give you templates and tutorials then leave you to figure it out, I roll up my sleeves and handle everything from writing compelling copy to setting up your tech systems.

What I’m known for: Taking entrepreneurs from chaos to clarity through my signature VIP Day intensives and Monthly VIP Day programs. My clients often say I’m like their “business fairy godmother” who makes their tech headaches disappear and transforms their scattered ideas into profitable, professional systems that actually work.

What I’m most proud of brand-wise: The authentic, conversational voice I’ve built. I speak to business owners like I’m their business BFF – because that’s genuinely how I see our relationship. I inject personality into everything, and never make anyone feel stupid for not knowing the tech stuff. My brand is built on being approachable, reliable, and results-driven. I also care *so much* about each of my clients and their success. I love celebrating their wins with them and cheering them on through new launches. Being a business owner is tough. Doing it alone is even tougher. I aim to make my clients feel like we’re in this together so they know they have a partner in this who wants them to succeed just as much as they want to.

What makes me different: Most agencies specialize in one thing – either copy OR tech OR strategy. I handle the full spectrum, which means my clients get seamless implementation instead of juggling multiple vendors. It’s tough to keep up with communicating with team members constantly & wondering who to go to for what. I know all aspects of business so I can be their one stop shop go to for all their needs in their business. AND, I take care of it all in one day for them so there isn’t a constant drawn out communication or project timeline. Professional results on a seriously fast timeline.

What I want readers to know: If you’re a passionate entrepreneur who’s tired of drowning in to-do lists and tech frustrations, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. My mission is to help you love your business again by handling all the behind-the-scenes work that keeps you up at night so YOU can get back to doing the things you love most in your business. And maybe even allow you to sprinkle in some much needed unplugged vacation time, while you still reach those big goals in your business 😉

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The first major risk I took was when I left my job at the doctors office to go full time with a small, brand new fitness center, as an independent contractor. I had a secure job with a 401k, steady paycheck, health benefits, and more…and I gave all of that up while newly pregnant with my first child to pursue this dream of working for myself and having more flexibility in my schedule.

After working there for 8 years and having a steady income and security in my job, I then risked it all again to leave that position with no other job lined up, two kids at home, and take time to figure out what I wanted to do and what really sparked joy in my life and bet on myself to find something that aligned with my values and my goals for my family even more.

Taking risks is SCARY. And I am fortunate enough to have a husband that supported me through these leaps and believed in me maybe even more than I believed in myself. With every risk I take and every nudge on my heart that I lean into, I grow even more and I become even more aligned with the version of myself that I want to be. The best me I can be for my family. And so while it’s scary, my goodness, it is absolutely worth it.
