Hi Tabitha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my business out of necessity during the pandemic. At the time, I had very limited resources, no stable income, and a three-year-old daughter to care for. With my back against the wall, I turned to the one skill I knew best—doing nails. I had previously worked in a few salons and always had a passion for art and perfecting my craft. Without access to child care or outside support, I brought my daughter along and launched Tabby’s Nail Cabby, starting with mobile nail services. As word spread quickly, I transformed my living room into a home salon to meet the growing demand. By the grace of God, the referrals kept coming, and soon I had more clients than I could accommodate at home. That demand opened the door for me to establish my first storefront, which I’ve proudly operated for the past four years. While my business began amidst adversity, it’s my passion, creativity, and commitment that continue to fuel its growth.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my business has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. I’m deeply passionate about what I do, but no one really prepares you for the growing pains or the “cost of being the boss.” I learned a lot through trial and error, especially when it came to finding reliable contractors, architects, and securing funding. Honestly, I didn’t always know where to turn and at times was taken advantage of due to my lack of knowledge and resources. Despite these struggles, I invested most of my salon’s startup costs out of my own pocket. I truly put my heart and soul into building my business.

We’ve been impressed with Tabby’s Nail Cabby, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tabby’s Nail Cabby is a nail salon dedicated to detailed, high-quality nail art. From the moment you walk through our doors, we want you to feel welcomed, relaxed, and pampered. Our salon’s decor definitely sets the mood,,,it’s a vibe! With pink everywhere, it creates a fun and inviting atmosphere that our clients love. We are also known for the warm and friendly experience we provide. What sets us apart is our commitment to making every client feel special and cared for, not just another appointment. We take pride in delivering not only beautiful nails but also a place where clients can unwind and feel at ease for a moment; it’s all about the details, the quality, and the personal touch for us. I would like the readers to know that I have a passion for what I do and it shows in every little detail in my business. I research high and low to find the best quality products for our salon. From the polish brands we offer to the latest nail art trends, I am always on the lookout for new gems to keep us ahead in the industry. Also quality is a major factor for me when selecting products because I want to ensure longevity and durability for the nails we create. I would love to branch out and start a school focused on nail art, I would also love to work with non-profits like Dress for Success and lend my skills to those in need, I love my community and want to give back!
