Exploring Life & Business with Rahshaad Winford of Too Real

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rahshaad “Dope” Winford.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Youngstown, OH, and lived in various cities as a youth, eventually settling in Columbus. As a young adult living in Columbus, I worked many jobs, temp service, etc… trying to figure life out as a young man. In 2009, I joined the Marine Corps and served for nine years. After serving, I became a client advisor (car salesman) for BMW in Rockville, MD. “Great Experience”. Learned a lot about business, professionalism in business, and numbers.

After, I ventured into the government field as a GS employee. Did that for approximately one year. “Great experience also”! From there I partnered with two other individuals to start a record label and management of artist relations. Recently, I ventured off and created “Too Real LLC”, which houses my clothing brand @toorealclothingbrand and Podcast @shittoorealpodcast. Every day is an opportunity to build and grow the brand, through merchandise and podcasting. Standing on our slogan Empowering Minds Through Conversation | Influencing Communities | Unmuting Potential & Vision. Once I graduate from ECPI University in August 2023 with my bachelor’s in Business Management, then I will begin to offer business consultations and maybe small business courses.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely “has not” been a smooth road. The unknown can make someone give up. Most stop or don’t attempt if they can’t get instant results. When growing a brand, it takes patients, belief, and discipline to stay consistent. Some of the struggles is understanding that things aren’t going to happen overnight. Stay the course of the plan, moving the needle a little every day.

From there you have to lean on your belief, research, planning, and execution of everything, to ensure overall success. Funding my business was difficult at times, but through self-education, and financial literacy, I was able to improve in that department. Daily for hours, I listened to Rich Dad Poor Dad, and Earn Your Leisure, while planning and strategizing.

I had to empower my mind, to move forward. I knew I needed equipment, subscription, professional video shoots, etc…, investing in myself, to generate a further reach. “You have to pay to play”, you have to grow your platforms. Meaning, you have to invest dollars, and invest in your mind more importantly. Financial literacy for sure!

Too Real LLC was established in 2022 by owner and CEO Rahshaad “Dope” Winford. The vision is and has always been to inspire and motivate individuals through demonstration. Empowering Minds Through Conversation Influencing Communities Unmuting Potential & Vision. Our organization specializes in business consultation, podcasting, and clothing merchandise.

We are known for authenticity, with a solid foundation. Inspiring and motivating others, not just through words, but through continuous demonstration. I don’t worry or concern myself with others and what others are doing. Don’t get me wrong, I network and build with others daily, I love it and love working with others to build each other brands.

But, to put time into trying to figure out what sets me apart from others, I don’t value you that, I value putting that energy into making me a better person and professional business owner. So, just being me, standing on my morals, principles, knowledge, education, faith, foundation, and upbringing to guide me along my journey.

I’m most proud of what my brand stands for. Empowering Minds Through Conversation | Influencing Communities | Unmuting Potential & Vision. That’s what I love to do, conversing and sharing informative knowledge/information, which is free! I may not have money to give you, but I have information and while having a conversation, the information may empower an individual and possibly change or save a life. So, that’s what I’m most proud of, “what my brand stands for”.

I would like the readers to understand that consistency creates separation. We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is defined as accomplishing your goals, while also uplifting others to chase their dreams, and being a leader for others to emulate. With the right mindset, a proper plan, and the discipline to not quit, anyone can reach their dreams and goals. Never quit, stay positive and stay consistent.
