Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Mock. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Maria Mock started her journey as a business owner in 2012 when she decided to make a career out of her 15 years of experience working in the Health Care field. She earned a B.S. from Franklin University in In Business Management and Accounting. She spent Several years in Cincinnati, OH as an Administrator in Training after completing her Core of Knowledge Courses at Ohio State University before returning to Columbus, OH, to start her own business.
Maria launched Hands from Heaven, LLC, Home healthcare service and Adult day program. For a decade, Maria provided a critical service to her community, even surviving the hit that the elder care industry took over two years of the covid-19 pandemic.
Today, Maria takes another step forward in her journey by turning her experience into a business consultancy. From working in dietary and housekeeping in a nursing home to building her own home care business, Maria knows what it takes to succeed in business, particular as a Black woman.
Now, Maria is working to build a client base of strong, independent-minded Individuals who believe they want to start a business but do not know how or where to start. Using all that she has learned, Maria will use her consultancy to help these parties to succeed in building their business dreams.
In addition to her consultancy, Maria Mock has completed a personal memoir “The Purpose Behind It All,” that she promotes through her speaker platform. Since closing her business early in2022, Maria has turned her entire focus to becoming an inspirational speaker, a published author, and a business consultant with a strong list of clients who, through her mentorship, have taken their business ideas from visions to reality.
Maria’s most requested keynote address is “The 3p’s to Success” (a portion can be found on the YouTube Channel). She also does Women, and Youth Educational presentations and seminars on leadership, changing your thinking and life. Mixing life stories with wit, inspiration, facts, and fun.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Over the last ten years, I started my own business, got married, graduated three children from high school, lost my eldest child, and shuttered my business. Through it all, my passion for nursing home administration and elder care gave me the focus and fire that I needed to keep going. When I decided to shutter my business early in 2022, I was able to look back with pride that despite suffering one of the worst loss a woman can suffer, I successfully continued to build my business for several years after. Now that I have freed myself to explore new opportunities, I am anxious to share what I’ve learned with the world.
I loved being Founder and CEO of Hands from Heaven, LLC, but now I want to be known for my successes on the speaking circuit. I want to use my platform to engage and inspire young girls, young women, and women of all ages, covering business, covering the healthcare industry specifically, and covering life. I want to do it all, and now I feel more than prepared.
In moving on from my adult day care and home health care business, I completed work on my e-book/memoir entitled, The Purpose Behind It All. In it I spare no punches as I recount all the things that came to the surface over the last few years following my son’s death. After counseling, meditation, deep prayer, and time, I have finally found some healing and a new purpose in life.
My purpose is to share insights and wisdom that I hope help make the world a better place, gives broken women and girls hope and shows a better way to those who are lost. Through my book, my speaking career, and whatever other professional opportunities come my way, I am on a mission to fulfill the promise I made to myself and to God, knowing that when I set myself on a mission, I will get it done.
