Exploring Life & Business with Kellee Haslon of Your Priority Healthcare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellee Haslon.

Hi Kellee , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started in 2006 as I enrolled in nursing school at the University Of Cincinnati. During my time there I fell in love with learning about the body as well as providing healing interventions to individuals needing medical care. Shortly after graduating in 2009 with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, I started to work at the University of Cincinnati as an emergency room nurse. While there I was directly exposed to the health disparities faced by individuals living in the inner city. I witnessed first hand the progression of chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and other conditions that could be easily managed outside of the emergency room by primary care providers. At that time appointments to be seen by a primary care provider could take up to 3 months, and as a result, patients would have to return back to the Emergency Room to get needed medications to stay healthy. Understanding the over saturation to the healthcare system and the impact on health particularly in underserved areas, my focus shifted to providing interventions to lessen the burden on the Emergency Rooms and to create an alternative for primary care. I returned back to school in 2012 and graduated in 2014 from Northern Kentucky University with a Masters of Science In Nursing. This program prepared me for my certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner, which I obtained in 2014. In 2020, I created Your Priority Healthcare with the intention to lessen the stain on area health care systems.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been very chaotic to say the least. I have been faced with several road blocks including funding restrictions, revamping my entire medical practice, balancing several external professional roles, caring for my medically complex son as well as trying to remain present as a wife and mother. These challenges has often caused me to unintentionally isolate myself from my loved ones and ultimately create a soft barrier of misunderstanding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Your Priority Healthcare was founded in 2020 with the focus to lessen the burden on Emergency Rooms as well as to avoid oversaturation of primary care offices. We also offer walk in services in some cases, if time allows. Our goal is to be your Primary Care Provider. We specialize in general physical exams, women’s health, chronic disease management such as diabetes, hypertension, etc, labs, sick visits, and vaccinations.

We are set apart by our quick appointment scheduling. At Your Priority Healthcare, we make “Your Care Our Priority”. We adapted this slogan with intention to make our patients aware that we aim to get you seen by one of our providers within 72 hours of calling for an appointment. This approach helps us to keep you healthy and avoid spending long hours in the emergency room.

I am most proud of Your Priority Healthcare because I have seen the different stages of growth. From being a novice in business and starting with only exceptional clinical skills, to advancing to multiple locations with an expanding patient population panel.

I would like to let readers know that Your Priority Healthcare would like to be your new healthcare provider. With years of medical experience, we are well equip to handle your medical conditions and concerns. We offer general medical services this included physical examinations, women health care, medication prescriptions, lab, and referrals. We collaborate with area health systems to ensure that you are able to continued care with referrals to other specialties. We are also your one stop shop for sick visits. We can treat conditions such as colds, allergies, sinus infections, std screenings, and some medication refills,

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite memories as a child was watching a show called Trauma Life In The ER, on a network called TLC. I can recall my siblings and my mother being grossed out by all of the unscripted emergency care displayed on this show. I would giggle intentionally at their reactions. I was intrigued, and at that moment I knew that I wanted to do my part in saving lives. I knew at a young age that I was made for healthcare.
