I started The Itsy Bitsy Veggie Co. in the spring of 2023, fueled by my passion for gardening—which I’ve been nurturing as a hobby for over seven years—and the desire to bring fresh, nutrient-dense produce into our home during the winter months. I began exploring microgreens as a way to garden indoors, and what started as a personal experiment quickly turned into a family affair. Today, our small, woman-owned, family-operated indoor farm in Willowick is thriving. We’re proud to offer a range of innovative products—from microgreen blends and pet grass to grow-at-home kits—all grown without any chemicals or pesticides. Every step of our journey has been about sharing the benefits of fresh, locally grown greens, and I’m incredibly excited about where we’re headed next.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While our journey has been incredibly rewarding, it hasn’t been without its challenges. One major struggle over the past year has been dealing with power outages, which can disrupt our indoor growing operations. However, these setbacks have motivated us to improve our setup—we’ve now invested in a reliable generator to help ease future outages and keep our microgreens growing strong. Every challenge has taught us resilience and made us even more committed to providing fresh, nutrient-packed produce to our community.
