Exploring Life & Business with Jewel Carter of The Mirror Movement

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jewel Carter.

Hi Jewel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When we first interviewed, I was in the early stages of releasing The Mirror Doesn’t Lie and sharing a message that had been growing inside of me for years. At the time, I was balancing entrepreneurship, raising my son, and building a beauty business while exploring what it looked like to help people on a deeper level.

Since then, a lot has changed.

What began as a self-reflection journal has evolved into a book, a coaching framework, speaking opportunities, podcast conversations, and what is now becoming The Mirror Movement™. While I still own and operate my beauty business, much of my focus today is centered around helping people identify patterns, break cycles, and reconnect with themselves through honest self-reflection.

One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been realizing that the work was never really about journals or books. Those are simply tools. The heart of the work is creating spaces where people feel safe enough to tell themselves the truth and courageous enough to grow from it.

Today, I spend my time writing, coaching, creating resources, and continuing to build The Mirror Movement™. Looking back, it’s incredible to see how one journal became the foundation for something much bigger. What started as a personal practice has become a mission dedicated to helping people find clarity, accountability, and peace through the power of self-reflection.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road.

One of the biggest challenges has been balancing all the different roles I carry. I am a mother, business owner, author, coach, and full-time employee. There were times when I was writing chapters of my book before work, working on my journal during lunch breaks, serving clients on weekends, and still trying to be present for my son.

Another challenge was learning to trust myself. When you are creating something new, there is no guarantee that people will support it, understand it, or connect with it. There were moments when I questioned whether I was doing enough or moving fast enough. It is easy to compare your journey to what you see online and feel like you are behind.

One lesson I learned early on was that waiting for everything to be perfect can keep you stuck. When I released my first journal, it was not perfect, but I released it anyway. Looking back, that decision taught me more than any course or business strategy ever could. It showed me that growth comes from taking action, learning as you go, and trusting the process.

Every challenge has stretched me in some way, but it has also made me better. It has taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of staying committed to the vision even when the results are not immediate.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Mirror Movement. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Through The Mirror Movement™, I create tools, conversations, and experiences designed to help people develop greater self-awareness, emotional clarity, and personal accountability. My work includes self-reflection journals, books, coaching conversations, speaking engagements, digital resources, and content centered around personal growth and transformation.

I am best known for helping people identify patterns, break unhealthy cycles, and take an honest look at themselves so they can create meaningful change in their lives. Much of this work is rooted in The Mirror Movement™, which encourages people to reclaim their peace, return to themselves, and embrace the power of radical self-reflection.

What sets my work apart is that I do not approach personal growth from a place of perfection. I approach it from lived experience. The lessons I share are lessons I have had to learn myself. I believe people connect more deeply with honesty than expertise alone, and I am passionate about creating spaces where people feel safe enough to be honest with themselves without judgment.

What I am most proud of is the impact. Hearing that a journal prompt sparked a breakthrough, a chapter in the book offered a new perspective, or a conversation helped someone move forward reminds me why I started this work in the first place.

I want readers to know that The Mirror Doesn’t Lie is more than a book or journal title. It is an invitation to slow down, get honest, and create a life that feels aligned with who you truly are. Whether through a journal, a book, a coaching conversation, or a speaking engagement, my goal is always the same: to help people see themselves clearly so they can become the highest version of themselves.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
My definition of success has changed a lot over the years.

At one point, I thought success was tied to achievements, income, recognition, or reaching the next milestone. While I still believe goals are important, I no longer measure success by accomplishments alone.

Today, success looks like alignment. It looks like waking up with peace, being present for my son, creating meaningful work, and having the freedom to live in a way that reflects my values. It looks like building a life that feels good on the inside, not just one that looks good from the outside.

Success is also knowing that the work I create is making a difference. Whether it is through a journal prompt, a coaching conversation, a book, or a simple piece of content, knowing that something I shared helped someone see themselves differently is incredibly rewarding.

For me, success is not about perfection. It is about growth. It is about having the courage to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep becoming the person I was created to be.
