Today we’d like to introduce you to David Williams.
Hi David, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I grew up loving cooking I was taught by one of the best my grandfather Hubert Harding, I was only 14 when he had me make stew beef and rice and peas this was a great experience learning from him that made me fall in love with cooking and the hospitality industry which I have worked in for the last 20 years of my life, I have been to different states around the USA working and learning and improving my craft to bring an awesome experience to everyone pallet. I came to Cincinnati because of work and fell in love with Cincinnati because of the quaint attractive feel, I said I would love to fulfill my dream here of opening up a restaurant, it wasn’t long after I met my beautiful wife Nicole who I then share my dream with and she was interested to get it started, so we started it from our home in north college hill we offered pickup and delivery services to our customers and amazingly our business grew so we had to find a place where we can improve our business and serve our customers better, so we found a spot hopefully it will be completed in late summer so we can be open to the public.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road it’s filled with ups and down, I lost my dad at age 11 and my mom had to do it on her own she was always there for us my young brother and I, she de ensured we go school and with little she had she tried her best to provide for us always. She encouraged us both to learn a skill as she said it would become vital in our life well guess she was right here I am today looking to actually fulfill my dream with the skill she encouraged me to learn.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Yard Vybz Nyaminz and Catering LLC?
Yard Vybz Nyaminz is a Jamaican restaurant that offers authentic Jamaican cuisine, my wife Nicole and I are the owners, and I am known for my knowledge to prepare great Jamaican dishes. We are both lovers of music reggae and dancehall music of course as we are both Jamaicans, what sets us apart from other restaurants that are Caribbean inspire we seek to serve authentic Jamaican food and hope to do so with all the flavors and spices Jamaican for everyone to enjoy, we are proud of our brand that we have build, from our home in our kitchen in north college hill and so far we have customers raving for our food, our brand is authentic we coming to Ohio with 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry and we offer Jamaican culture in the purest of form with the desired attitude to go above and beyond for our customers, the tag tells it all, impacting the world one taste at a time.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Well possibly extend, opening more locations all over the Midwest in the future but for we are focus on getting our new location open.
