Exploring Life & Business with Ciera Gingery of CeeYaLata Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciera Gingery

Hi Ciera, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a creative side to myself, but it wasn’t until I wanted to buy a weighted blanket and noticed how expensive they were. I suffer from anxiety and I also have autistic child who at the time had a lot of sensory issues and after researching the benefits of weighted blankets, I told myself I’m going to make one and I went out and bought a sewing machine and the materials to make a blanket and I just started off from there.

I started off making blankets then I slowly transitioned into making scrub hats. When covid hit, I made mask to help out the community . I had a lot of time on my hands and wanted to explore how to make dance wear and clothing .

I’m a type of person that always wants to continue to challenge myself and learn new skills. Over the last five years, I have self taught myself how to sew , whether it was from YouTube, trial and error, or booking classes out of state to learn how to sew certain garments.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think I can speak for all designers who are self taught, we are our biggest critic. I think we are hard on ourselves and we want our art to be perfect.

For me, this was a struggle because for the longest I would make a lot of clothing. I would share them on my social media and get a lot of feedback how people wanted to buy them, but I just felt that I wasn’t ready nor was the outfit to the perfection of how other designers clothing look.

I would say this is my most successful year since transitioning to prom dresses/customs. It’s the exact challenge I was needing to really get my passion back when it came to sewing . Plus I take pride in making it the most memorable experience for my customers.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
