Exploring Life & Business with Chelci Edmonds of Cleveland Pawsh Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelci Edmonds.

Hi Chelci, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I began dog grooming in 2010 through an educational program at my high school. From there, I knew I wanted to have my own dog grooming business one day, so I went to school for business and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in 2018. During my studies, I got the chance to start my business as a part of the hands-on coursework. It was not as successful as I wanted it to be because of various reasons. I stopped grooming for a while and tried many other employment opportunities. In 2019 I decided to start grooming again, which leads me to today, where I finally have my own salon!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been easy. First and foremost, at my first attempt to start my business I became pregnant with my first child… now I have two children. Being a mother with aspirations of owning a business and becoming a business owner is not for the weak. Every day is a challenge, but if I weren’t challenging myself, I wouldn’t be content, and I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is a franchise location. I specialize in dog grooming which includes baths, haircuts, nails, and much more. My customer service, my skill, and my passion sets me apart from others. Additionally, I provide a cage-free salon for dogs that is not chaotic or stressful for them.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I have always been more on the shy and introverted side. I’ve always been curious and creative. I love to learn, and I’m always looking for ways to stay busy. I would never mind playing alone and sometimes preferred it. I grew up as the only girl in my family of four boys, so I’m kind of a Tomboy and really enjoy the outdoors too.
