Exploring Life & Business with Ashley Kubin of The Yellow Door Design Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Kubin.

Hi Ashley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always had a creative side. I worked in healthcare for many years. This took me away from my boys and I knew I wanted to be a Mom 1st and not miss a second of them growing. The healthcare industry started to take the turn into insurance driven care. I knew I wanted to still make an impact as I did as a nurse. So I shifted my efforts into helping with residential remodels in the area. I started out with $800 and a flower shop in my basement. Friends and family would come over asking who did the work within my own home. It was me. I started off small with smaller renovations and it has now taken off into something more than I could have ever imagened. We complete anything from a small powder room to full home renovations. We have the best team and its truly a combined effort to help each client with what they desire.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Any small business will tell you the same thing….there are many bumps in the road. Its how you handle it and learn from it. You have dips and flows within any business. It’s the outcomes at the end of the year that makes it all worth it. Playing a single mom role to two boys has been my greatest joy. They are super active within the community and sports. The juggling somedays is whats gets tuff. Somedays they have to go onsite with me. Its teaching them young on what it takes to make things happen.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Yellow Door Design Co.?
We are a full scale Design/Build firm. Focusing our efforts on residential home remodels in the Dublin, Ohio area. Our goal within our process is to allow each client to enjoy it. We so many horry stories from clients. We use these as a guide of what not to do. Communication, timeline, budget and the finished product are the four main compents we hone in on. If we hit these four things with each renovation, there should be no way it will be a slamdunk.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Things happen, life happens and you just need to roll with it. Our 14 year old son has Spina Bifida and has taught some many people along his journey. I used to get worked up about things in life. Now I take them as they come, challenge myself and overcome.
