Daily Inspiration: Meet Paul Romano Weedman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Romano Weedman. Them and their team share their story with us below:

The Weedman 420 Chronicles began as a ‘smoke sesh’ conversation in our basement, with talks of creating a comic book series that later evolved into the creation of the podcast. Paul, aka. Mr. Weedman and the boys were the original hosts, smoking and talking about all things cannabis, with a focus on education and freeing the plant’s stigma. As time progressed, the pandemic limited our ability to record with the crew, so Susan, aka. Mrs. Weedman agreed to jump in. Once she acclimated to the process, the podcast found its groove and became a more regular show with weekly episodes. The duo consistently delivers cannabis-related – articles, educational information, and world news, along with their own quirky brand of canna humor!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Our show has been a very organic project. Beginning with friends and casual conversation, it naturally evolved into the show we have today, and it continues to grow and expand to new listeners weekly. The advertising restrictions on cannabis due to federal laws have been very limiting and have led us to slow growth. Our future plans to add advertisements and seek sponsorship will all be done in an effort to grow our audience so we can continue to “Stomp the Stigma” and “Free the Plant.” Covid was a hurdle that we had to overcome; it was a bit of a reset for the show. At the time, Mr. Weedman was recording weekly episodes with the crew, our son, and his buds, pun intended, haha. When Covid hit, and the lockdown was put in effect, Mrs. Weedman had to step up to the mic, and she’s continued as our resident co-host. Covid also presented a problem with having guests on the show, a process we’re still working through. Ideally, we’ll have a studio space with guest accommodations so future guests can come in town and stay with us to record. Lofty dreams, but we know we’ll get there! I love the challenge of building our platform, growing our podcast, and most of all, spreading the truth about cannabis, one episode at a time. It’s our goal to share honest and informative cannabis news and to debunk the myths that the War on Drugs embedded into society.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Having an extensive background in sales management and years of hospitality experience, I am very accustomed to teaching and helping people learn a skill set to perfect their trade. I’ve spent years hiring, training, assisting, mentoring, and guiding others in my profession, and I felt it was time for a side project that focused on something I’ve always loved, cannabis. I’m accomplished in my career; I reached goals and titles that I worked really hard for. It was time for a side project, a passion project. Work had become manageable; the kids were grown, it was time to start something new. I’m a creature of habit, a systems guy; I read, I apply what works, and I always seek ways to improve myself and my team. Some have said that I’m a bit enthusiastic, they’re right, especially about the things I find important…give me a platform, and I’ll preach the good word! So, starting the Weedman 420 Chronicles podcast was a natural progression of my belief in the cannabis plant. I LOVE CANNABIS, and I want others to love it too. Having a platform to share news, research, stories, and tales about the plant is amazing. I look forward to the future growth of the show and hope you’ll stop by and have a listen.

This past spring, we launched eight decades. Cannabis lifestyle brand. We designed and developed an awesome stainless steel smoking set, violetglass storage jar set, and multiple other cannabis-related items. It’s been a huge undertaking and one that we’re super proud of! We launched in April, a sort of soft launch while waiting for our smoking set to be manufactured. Finally, we see light at the end of the tunnel; our products are due to arrive next month, in time for the 2022 holiday season. Woohoo! It’s been a lot of fun and a ton of learning; building a brand is no easy feat, but we are super excited with what we’ve created, and we hope our listeners and cannabis community embrace our mission, to start the conversation and to “Stomp the Stigma.” Our goal and hope is that there won’t be a ninth decade of cannabis prohibition.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Be consistent and persistent. Nothing great is easy, including hosting a podcast. Research, do your homework and dig your heels in; there’s a lot of work to creating a good show. Income will be minimal; keep going. Listeners will come and go; keep going. Growth will have its ups and downs; keep going. Friends and family might not support you, keep going. Follow your plan, stick to it even when it seems like you’re not getting anywhere. You will succeed if you are doing the work and giving your audience quality entertainment.

One step at a time, keep going.

Looking back, I wish I knew about sound systems and quality equipment.
