Daily Inspiration: Meet Rowe Sports Complex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rowe Sports Complex.

Hi Rowe Sports Complex, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We have been in the sporting goods business since 1996, we built the Rowe Sports Complex at 6480 Trenton Franklin Road, Middletown, Ohio is 2011. We will hold our 250th Fastpitch/ Baseball Tournament sometime in April of 2026. We are a family ran business that specializes in youth diamond sports, especially fastpitch softball. We also have indoor batting cages and a full line sporting goods. Our sporting goods, AlphaDawg Sports, annually embroiders approx. 35 – 40,000 hats a year. We are one of the largest single store Richardson blank hat dealers in 17 states. Our Sports Complex was voted #3 fastpitch/ baseball complex in Ohio is 2024 and 2025. We have 4 fields with 2 having turf infields and a 3rd getting turf in August 2026. We are a family oriented sports complex and do not serve alcohol or permit alcohol consumption here. We have many teams travel to our complex from states outside of Ohio, at last count 12 outside states have had teams represented here. We pride ourselves in providing a top notch facility to help develop the passion for yourng athletes to excel in their chosen sports, we stress a safe, family type environment and good competition for teams. We always feel good, when teams are leaving, they thank us for a great tournament experience and tell us they will defintely be back. We have coaches who have been coaching there since season one and we enjoy the realtionships we make with players, parents, umpires and coaches. We really enjoy what we do and it shows we feel.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our biggest struggle is getting the word out about the park. We aren’t media savvy enough to promote the park the way it should be promoted. All our growth has been word of mouth and we know we need to reach those teams outside of our area better. We partnered with USSSA Sports to help enable us to promote the park on a more National level through their website. It is always a stuggle to find umpires but we think we have a great group now, we don’t serve alcohol so that is very appealing to the better umpires – they don’t have to listen to – deal with alcohol related issues here. We always say there are 3 main elements coaches are looking for when choosing a sports complex; 1. quality of fields – we feel with the turf infields we have some of the best fields in the state. 2. level of competition – we try to do our very best to classify teams to play other teams of similar make-up and ability – while we are not perfect we try harder than most all our competition – we are not chasing every dollar/ team to sacrifice a good experience for all teams. 3. Facilites/ concessions – our concession prices are the lowest of our competition yet our quality of products is much better. We have air conditioned/ heated bathrooms for our patrons – which of our competition can say that – none of them. We are people who did travel sports with our children so we know what we liked and disliked.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a family ran business. Mike McCoppin ( father ) is an engineer and also a farmer. Andrew McCoppin (son) is a teacher and manages the sporting goods. Fran McCoppin ( Mike’s wife / Andy’s mother ) is a retired school teacher and helps with the care of the farm and concessions. Daryl O’Hair ( Mike’s best friend ) is a nursing director at the Dayton VA. Tina Oney ( Andy’s gf) helps with the concession/ park. Steve Hallman ( USSSA Director ) is our tournament director. Nathan Martin ( Tina’s son ) is our go to person for the park/ business. Ryan West ( family friend ) is a trusted employee and considered family by all of us. We feel this owner hands on team is what enables patrons to have an excellent experience, an owner is always available on site.
