Today we’d like to introduce you to Roderick Jackson.
Roderick, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My rug tufting journey started one year ago, February 2020, when I wanted a custom rug of my Photo Studios logo. While shopping around I realized for about how much it would cost me to make it, I could buy the tool used to make it and do it myself, which is what I did. Since that moment I’ve made 100 plus rugs but still haven’t made the rug for my studio.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, it has been a pretty smooth uphill climb for me with the rugs, I currently have 3 other business that don’t see as much attention or continuing clientele that my rugs do. Not to mention that I just started making rugs only a year ago, while my other business’ I’ve been building for over a decade. I would say this is due to the resources we have now that helps individuals become self-taught at whatever they have interest in.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is broad. I’m a Visual Artist with expertise in Photography service. I am also a cinematographer. I would like to say I’m an ammeter painter and of course I make rugs. Even though my rugs are gradually making the most noise right now, I’m most known for my Photography and I would have to say that’s what I specialize in. I’m most proud of my photography if I’m being honest, I admire the attention I get from my other talents like making rugs but I see and have seen more progression with my Photography services over time. I imagine that will change in the near future. I also have a production house and radio station which are slowly gaining traction. I believe what sets me apart from others in the business and arts is the fact that I exude great customer service in addition to administering a quality product. Pretty much I’m a user-friendly business.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Honestly, I’m just starting out myself. One thing I wish I knew was how much ppl would pay for a rug.
