Daily Inspiration: Meet Michael Wilkinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Wilkinson.

Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in a lower-income household, where hard work and perseverance were a way of life. Through the dedication and sacrifices of my parents, I was given the opportunity to attend a private high school, Archbishop Moeller, which helped shape my discipline and drive. After graduating, I went on to study business at Wright State University.

Life took a major turn when I had my first child. Navigating fatherhood while going through challenges with my child’s mother opened my eyes to a reality I hadn’t fully seen before—there were far fewer resources available for men, especially single fathers, compared to women. Experiencing those struggles firsthand inspired me to take action.

That’s what led me to launch the Wilkinson Father Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to supporting single fathers by providing assistance with rental support, custody resources, food, clothing, and other essential needs—helping fathers stay present, stable, and strong for their children.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road—but life was never meant to be easy. Every day brings something new, whether it’s a win or a challenge. Along the way, I’ve faced constant obstacles, unexpected setbacks, and moments that required me to adapt quickly. There were times when the pressure felt heavy, but those experiences taught me resilience. Sometimes you don’t get the luxury of perfect conditions—you adjust, learn, and keep rolling with the punches.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the core of everything I do is a genuine love for helping people. That’s what led me to start my nonprofit, and it’s also what drives my work in real estate. In both spaces, my focus is on creating stability, opportunity, and fairness for others.

Through my nonprofit, I specialize in supporting single fathers who are often overlooked—helping them access housing assistance, custody resources, food, clothing, and basic necessities so they can show up fully for their families. In real estate, I take pride in being a landlord and business owner who puts people first. Providing someone with a safe place to call home, or leading a business where employees feel respected and treated fairly, is what motivates me every day.

One of the moments I’m most proud of is being recognized by the City of Cincinnati—through hard work and community impact, I was honored with my own day by the Mayor. That recognition wasn’t just personal; it reflected the lives being changed through the work.

What sets me apart is that I don’t see people as numbers or transactions. Whether it’s a tenant, an employee, or someone seeking help through the foundation, I lead with empathy, integrity, and action.
