Daily Inspiration: Meet Mckenna Marino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mckenna Marino.

Hi Mckenna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my journey at 17 when I enrolled in cosmetology school in Florence, KY. I went in with the intention to learn and do hair, but quickly learned it was not for me! Fast forward to 2021, I began working at a local waxing chain to try something new. There, I fell in love with waxing! I love being my clients “hype man”, and encouraging them to do something that makes them confident! In 2024 I left that job, and began what is now Locally Peachy! I get to still be that “hype man” everyday, while also running my own business!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth! So many times I have had the thought, “it would be easier to just quit”. From all the logistics of actually getting a business up and running, to balancing my work life with my family life, it’s a lot!

I am very lucky to have such an amazing husband who was there every step of the way, and so many amazing clients who make this dream a reality.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I own a waxing salon located in Newport KY! I specialize in full body waxing, from hairline to toes… literally! I think what sets me apart is my speed in which I get these services done, while also keeping a conversation and a good relationship with my clients.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is being a “good” person. As subjective as that is, doing good by my family, friends and clients means the world to me. I love that my business gives me the opportunity to give back to the community, while also allowing a flexible schedule to be there for those closest to me!
