Daily Inspiration: Meet Lori Nix And Kathleen Gerber

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Nix And Kathleen Gerber.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We build miniature sets and props for television, movies, and advertising. We also construct complex models and photograph them for our fine art.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We are a small studio, just the two of us, We never set out to do this type of work commercially. We were just doing the artwork, and creatives in the advertising world found us based on that work. So, we got into this world kind of through the back door, and have had to learn through trial and error.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We build complex, highly detailed models in miniature scale. Sometimes it is just one or two items and other times it is a large landscape or part of a city. We have worked on a variety of scales, from the size of a TicTac to rolling hills and trees 21 feet long.

What matters most to you? Why?
We really enjoy the process of creating the models. From designing the components to the last dash of paint.
