Daily Inspiration: Meet Lisa Wein

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Wein.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve worked inside of non-profits, planning events, for over 18 years (10 in NYC). No matter what problem you’re facing (with a sponsor, volunteer, or event details), I’ve been there. I help non-profits and corporations think strategically about their events, and I have a unique perspective because I’ve been in the trenches and understand the limitations of budgets, time, and expectations.

With LW Events, my focus is to help non-profits be more strategic about their events and think-through their goals before the event planning process starts. I help to guide them to have conversations they think they don’t have time to have, and it helps them focus on building relationships with their donors, as opposed to being in the weeds with event details.

On the corporate side, I bring all of the things I’ve learned about nonprofit budgeting and vendor relationships to ensure events are cost-effective and fun.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur is an up and down way of life. When I’m booked and busy everything seems wonderful, but when I’m waiting to hear back from potential clients it can be really stressful. Owning my own business definitely has its upside though, and I love being able to tell my clients that I don’t have to ask anyone for permission if they need me to tailor something to them.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in working with nonprofits on event and development strategy as well as planning and execution. I speak their language and understand their challenges. I can provide sage advice on everything from dealing with Board members to securing sponsorships.

How do you define success?
My clients being happy post-event and wanting to work with me the next year.
