Daily Inspiration: Meet KTGODUMB!

Today we’d like to introduce you to KTGODUMB!.

Hi KTGODUMB!, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My music journey began in late 2019 when I started producing beats using GarageBand before eventually transitioning to FL Studio. I was heavily influenced by artists like Lil Uzi Vert, J. Cole, Kid Cudi, and Wiz Khalifa, whose creativity inspired me to explore different sides of music. As I continued working with local artists, I expanded my skills into audio engineering and songwriting, developing a deeper understanding of the creative process. Early on, I released instrumental projects through my YouTube channel, but it wasn’t until the summer of 2024 that I released my first mixtape as an artist. Since then, I’ve continued to release new music, perform live, and grow both as a creator and performer.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many artists, I’ve faced challenges with self-doubt and being overly critical of my own work. There have been times when I felt misunderstood or questioned whether people truly understood my vision and aspirations. However, those challenges have also pushed me to grow. Looking back, I can see how much I’ve evolved—not just as an artist, but also as a producer, songwriter, and performer. One of the biggest factors in that growth has been finding a supportive community of people who believe in me, challenge me, and encourage me to keep moving forward.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a recording artist, music producer, songwriter, and audio engineer. While I originally started my journey producing beats, I’ve grown into an artist who is involved in nearly every stage of the creative process, from production and songwriting to recording and performance.

My music blends elements of hip-hop, alternative music, R&B, and melodic rap, drawing inspiration from artists like Kid Cudi, J. Cole, Lil Uzi Vert, and Wiz Khalifa. I’m known for creating music that is introspective, emotional, and relatable. I often describe my music as being for quiet people who think too much and feel quietly, because many of my songs explore themes of self-discovery, growth, doubt, ambition, and finding your place in the world.

What I’m most proud of is my growth and persistence. I started out making beats in my bedroom with little experience, and over time I developed the confidence to become an artist, perform live, release projects, and build a brand around my vision. Every song, performance, and project represents another step in that journey.

What sets me apart is my versatility and authenticity. I’m not just focused on one aspect of music—I create, produce, write, engineer, and perform. More importantly, I strive to make music that feels genuine. Rather than chasing trends, I focus on telling my story and creating music that connects with people who may feel overlooked, misunderstood, or like they’re figuring life out one day at a time.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was spending time with my family at a beach house in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. The house was just a short walk from the beach, and I remember spending my days enjoying the sunshine, exploring the area, and watching crabs crawl along the sand. It was a beautiful and peaceful place, and being able to spend that quality time with my family made it even more special. Looking back, it’s a memory that reminds me of the importance of family, connection, and simply enjoying the moment.
