Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Herbin.
Hi Kelly, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Professionally I’m a Clinical Social Worker/ Mental Health Therapist and as a way to drain off stressors and pressures of my job I started creating bracelets back 2013. It was my artistic outlet. I would sell to my coworkers and friends then suddenly more and more people began asking for different styles and colors of my beaded bracelets which I later named Wristwerk®️ Which lead to the Wristwerkcustom brand as it represents the custom art pieces I would create for my customers. I’ve done various PopUp shops and vending events throughout the city over the years. In 2017 I started hosting my own PopUp shops to include other small businesses along the way. I worked out of my house for 8 years and in January 2022 I moved into a small studio in Cleveland Heights, where I create one of a kind wearable art and have customers come shop off the rack or start a consultation for their custom piece(s)
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggles usually occur when the sales aren’t consistent. Also, I make one-of-a-kind pieces and oftentimes people want the same pieces and there’s no way to replicate. I have to constantly use the disclaimer first come first serve so they are aware that once it’s gone. It’s gone.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m proud to have a small business through my life’s journeys. In 2018 I became a mom again at 44 years old. I know I know… 😀 So when I left work to take care of my newborn, I had an additional stream of income that sustained me to be able to stay home and care for my son while my husband worked.
People really like the idea of giving custom bracelets as gifts, therefore, there’s a constant request for my products. It gives a personal touch. I’m requested for birthdays, Christmas, Anniversary, bridal shower gifts, and more! I Love the idea of giving Bracelet Stacks as gifts for themselves or to others. That’s wear my slogan of “Come Get Stacked Properly” derived. Wristwerk®️ is a proper gift 😉
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’ve always been a positive humorous person. A good listener and a creative free spirit That personality resonates in a lot of my pieces per my customers’ reviews. In my profession, I’m constantly discussing feelings and emotions so when I see that my pieces evoke emotions from my customers, I know that I’m on the right path. Wristwerk is like a ministry through Art.
