Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Ceja.
Hi Joseph, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I honestly started with poetry and art. At a young age, I was in several poetry and art shows at Bowling Green in Ohio. And I also played the drums and the cello in school. My passion and still a huge passion of mine is film. I wanted to be the next Steven Spielberg and also do acting. I spent a lot of time with a home camera shooting movies with friends and editing clips on the old family desktop. I moved to VA when I was 12 because my parents got teaching positions. I loved it out there. I would linked up with friends who were heavy into battle of bands. They introduced me to playing live shows and the understanding that you can record music from home. That planted a seed that didn’t fully start to grow till 2016 when I started to self-produce write and record my own music. Everything was self-taught through countless YouTube tutorials and trial and error. When I first started my stage name was Apollo13 (A13) I had a good local following. At the time I was a cook and a waiter at a restaurant. I took full advantage and would always leave my music links with the customers. After a few years of chipping away, I started to really make waves and get show opportunities. The one thing I never realized would impact me was stage fright so as each date would get closer, I would have to decline the offers. I felt lost and didn’t know what to really do I loved music and wanted to reach the world but couldn’t get over myself. So, I turned to MMA and Jiujitsu at Hooligans Boxing and MMA. After three years I worked through my PTSD and Anxiety I had competed in front of tons of people fighting in a cage facing my fears head-on. I felt clear-headed had started a family and felt like I had matured and had a purpose! It was time to get back on my music grind. Everything started to make since again. In 2022 I began to lay the foundation of a new artist NSLXO with a new sound. It’s been challenging rebranding myself but all great things take time. I’m excited for the future and hope to touch many people with my music and message.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Mental health was a big issue a lot if second-guessing myself and working on not being so introvert. Anxiety plagued everything that I did and crippled me to the point of not being able to perform live.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Videographer/Photographer and Musician I’m known for being an all-around artist talented at everything I touch. I mainly specialize in Videography shooting and editing local ads and music promos gym promos etc. I’m most proud of the ability to create emotion through visuals and sound. And the consistency to drive for success my whole life and not giving up on myself. What sets me apart is the true passion behind everything that I do and I do it because I love it!
