Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaleesa Anderson.
Hi Jaleesa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hello, well my eyebrow journey actually started in high school somewhat. I use to arch a few of my friends eyebrows, and when I got into college I started taking a liking to doing makeup. I would watch all my favorite youtube girlies, and spend half of my summer working paychecks on buying makeup products. Doing my eyebrows was my favorite part when applying my makeup. Fast forward, around covid time I was working a full time 9-5 at a job I had been at since I was 19 years old. I started to research permanent makeup and beauty school, even though I had started an online clothing boutique. My clothing boutique was fun and my first lesson in business. However, it wasn’t my calling because brows always played in the back of my mind. I prayed, and finally took the leap and enrolled in school to fulfill my passion, 4 years later i’m still pushing through and following my purpose.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road, I feel like with any business the road will never be that smooth their will be bumps and obstacles, but the main thing is to continue to follow the path and direction. Some of my struggles along the way has been lacking confidence in the beginning and trying to remember not to compare my journey to no one else’s, because becoming a successful entrepreneur and beauty provider takes hard work and discipline. Ive had people who have doubted me, having tough skin if clients may not like your results, slow bookings, understanding leases when it comes to going into salon suites. However, the struggles is what helps build character and makes success feel even more worth it because you worked through it to get to it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Eyebrow/Permanent Makeup Artist here in Cleveland Ohio. My business is called 119 Brow Studio. I am located inside the Makeup Institute in Lyndhurst, which is Ohio’s #1 Makeup school were you can come learn and become a licensed makeup artist, and also get serviced in getting your makeup done. My services include Eyebrow tinting (Hybrid brows), Henna Brows, Eyebrow Lamination including my signature brow which is lamination and hybrid stain combined, Eyebrow wax and sculpt. I am also returning to Permanent makeup this upcoming summer in July were I specialize in ombre powder brows, and looking forward to learning lip blushing in the fall to add to my services. I am most proud of my dedication to continue servicing my wonderful clients who choose me to enhance their beauty with their brows, What sets me apart from others I would say is my authenticity, I love growing a relationship with my clients, and just having them get to know me behind the chair.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The best thing I like about our city is the nice events we have to attend for entrepreneurship, growth, and just connections. When you put yourself in the right rooms, connections can be made. The least thing I like about our city is that it can get somewhat competitive and clicky. I feel like women should never be in competition with one another we should be collaborating and uplifting one another.
