Daily Inspiration: Meet Gabrielle Pobega

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Pobega

Hi Gabrielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello , I’m Gabrielle, I’m 32, I’m a Mom of 2 kids, I live in Cleveland Ohio, and I’m a stay at home Nail Tech. I have been doing nails for the last 6 years. I’m self taught! Everything I have learned about nails and the nail industry I’ve learned about online. Using sites such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, & TikTok to learn any and everything I can about this occupation. But I didn’t start out wanting to do nails. I grew up in Garfield Heights, Ohio. I went to Garfield Schools all my life, I graduated from Garfield Heights High School in 2011. I also attended Craig’s Valley Career Center in 2009-10 for art & graphic design. I’ve have ALWAYS been an artist. Ever since I can remember I always had a sketch pad an charcoal in my hand. I would draw anything. Anything I felt, I would just draw constantly. It was my only outlet. My mom is an a recovering alcoholic so I grew up in a toxic environment for the most part. I moved out after I graduated from high school and moved in with my husband but at the time my boyfriend. Were married now though! I struggled with addiction for a few years. I ended up getting pregnant in 2012 with my son Landyn. I couldn’t stay clean long after I had him. I struggled for another year and a half until I got pregnant with my daughter Delylah. She was born in 2015. I have been clean for 10 years now. But after I got clean and sober I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life. I was infatuated with nails and the process of doing them. So I ordered a nail kit and tried for the first time. It was AWFUL! Of course I was discouraged, but I did not give up. I was determined to see it through. So I would sit in my attic and just make nails for hours. I would try different kinds of techniques. I watched anything I could that would educate me more. Now six years later it’s become passion. It’s not a job to me. I call it playing. Whenever I go in my Nail room, I call it my playtime. It’s my get away from reality. I do have every intention of going to school and getting licensed for it. I also make my own Acrylic powders. I used to sell them on Etsy for a couple years. I have every intention of reopening my shop, though. My dream is to own my own empire one day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! It has been a very rough road. I was discouraged a lot. I got frustrated that I didn’t get it right. The first time I would try a new technique. But I would constantly remind myself that practice makes perfect. don’t quit. That is the key.
