Daily Inspiration: Meet Eliy Orcko

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eliy Orcko.

Hi Eliy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Elyria, OH and grew up with a love for music, drawing, writing, and exploring (I use to go in the woods when I was younger and just walk around my mom always hated that). When I was 6 my mom had decided to move us down to Florida where I ended up spending a majority of my developmental years.

During that time, I experienced a lot of things; love, hate, loss, grief, strength, isolation, independence, and discovery. I’ve always been the ambitious yet hard headed one in my circles I’d travel in growing up and I still hold that trait as a full adult. I had always wanted to be someone that brought a wind of chaos to the world and always enjoyed entertaining. My girlfriend I had ended up spending half of my teens and beginning of my adult years always encouraged me to make something of myself “you’re really funny and charming you should show people more of that” the world’s always been harsh and cold to me so I gave back the same energy on the outside to a majority of people who I felt didn’t deserve it aside from her…later on She’d show me everything always goes to shit but we’ve recently forgiven each other.

In her encouragement tho I began doing things outside of skateboarding. I started tattooing, focusing more on my poetry, and even started working with some local rappers once I moved back to Ohio when my mom and stepdad split up. I spread myself thin because I couldn’t find a job and did as much as I could that depended on me so I could get back to her. In that I found myself falling in love with the idea of being a musician as a job. There was so much to explore and discover and as I kept recording and networking I started talking to people all over the world and seeing so much that was being done and the idea of building something other than my relationship made sense. I guess you can say music became my second love in life.

I wanted to find more of myself and more of the world as well as more in sound and experience that it could offer me as a person and I’ve been fairly devoted to the concept of creation. I had started this venture as Eliy Orcko fully around 5 years ago, leaving behind my roots in punk/hardcore for a bit to focus on building my own sound and have toured, written some well received songs, met all types of wonderful people, released a beer, played festivals, and dealt with a lot of nonsense as well but all in all every experience negative or positive has all been worth it in the name of creation and self-discovery.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Things have not been simple; I’ve had to choose between music and love. I’m always craving to write and create something a d it pulls at my ability to be social because all I want to do is make music. I had this problem as a kid with drawing as well but I get fixated on something and stick to it. I fund a lot of things myself and continue to do so, and it’s taken time to clarify my vision but I’m getting closer as to seeing what it is as I continue to progress.

You have to take the hardships that come with anything you’re passionate about in life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I started out producing and writing for people, no one ever liked my beats but loved my hooks. So I carved a lane for myself like that. I’m known as a creative all in all but my main thing is being a vocalist, I’m a lyricist and songwriter as well but yeah I just use my voice. Something that makes me different from a lot of artists Is that I’m very good at getting my point across in a catchy manner as well as my presence is noticeable, I know how to draw people in and get them involved. I had become an Emcee in this journey over time and I’m pretty happy with the results cause I keep growing and learning as well as building a better bond with the audiences I play for. I offer an experience everyone’s a part of and that’s learning to trust yourself, your power, and your vision as well as finding it.

How do you define success?
The jobs never done so there’s no real success, it’s more of a…each person you inspire and you see them doing their thing that’s another notch in your belt because you’re doing your part but I don’t feel like you can ever succeed just always grow. Strive to be glorious and continue it in your own way to the best of your abilities and then just continue to build on that way of thinking. Make dope stuff.
